hello,
i have a sony vaio with windows vista, would like to know how to uninstall OneNote 2007. i accently clicked on the ballon on the bottom of my screen and it installed and i really dislike this program. ive tried looking for an uninstall icon in the program files from hard drive, but there was none.
any help would be appreciated,

I am not sure why this has become such a hot button issue. I am sorry that my comments have made it worse.
I added the remove instructions at the top f the thread because I thought it would help people. It was done directly from my uninstalling it for a test. Let me repeat the basics of that instruction, since a piece of it seems to have gotten lost:
From Start --> Control Panel --> Programs and Features, find your version of Office in the list of programs. Click the "Change" link at the top of the list. Wait for Office to do the set up. On the list of options, select "Add or Remove Features". Click Continue. Select OneNote from the list. RIght click it and select "Not Availalbe", then click continue again. Your computer will buzz for a while.... When done, OneNote should be removed from your computer.
Please be sure that you have another printer available to that machine so that you get a new default printer once Send to OneNote is gone.
As for the other question: No - OneNote doesn't slow down my machine. I usually have at least one instance of it up and I don't see any slow down at all. In fact, installing it and getting it set up only takes a minute or two on my machines. I would love to know more about what is on your machines that is causing the slow down.
Some of us do care about OneNote problems. Just because I can't live without it doesn't mean you should use it. I am sorry for the problems this thread has caused.
Call me simplistic, or old-fashioned, but is it unreasonable to expect newer products, from Microsoft, or anyone else, to be an improvement on previous versions AND to be given the choice to install certain features, or to say, 'Thanks but no thanks'? It seems to me that certain Microsoft staff, responsible for new programs and features, make them so difficult (or impossible) to remove, because they know that their innovations (which probably earned them big bonuses) would be seen to be unnecessary, or unpopular, if they were simple and easy to remove. Consumers are dealing with a very manipulative and intrusive company here and I find new reasons to dislike them every single day. Their greed (charging far more for their products, knowing there are few alternatives), but especially their penchant for making perfectly good programs less helpful and enjoyable to use, I find depressing.
apuharmi: I couldn't have said it better! Anything to make a dollar at the expense of MS customers. Almost makes one want to go buy an Apple. The only reason I haven't is because others use this and my POV isn't valued since they've all invested too much money in repairing this dog.

If no-one else replies I'll be more than happy with your excellent response. I know many people who swear by Apple and wouldn't use anything else, but I've used Microsoft since the year dot and there are things I don't like about Apple too (I have used them at work). The first one I ever used, a workmate said, 'Use my computer, but just don't delete anything.' I spent my whole lunchtime trying to figure out how to turn it on. There was no visable Power button and I've forgotten how she showed me to do it. I hope a time comes when consumers' wishes are actually considered by manufacturers.

It's become such a "hot-button" issue because one is not given warning before it's installed and because it's an incredible pain to remove.
If MS really cared about customer relations, you'd send a patch that can be voluntarily installed to remove it.
