how to uninstall OneNote

Yeah, who is the Administrator of YOUR PC? You can exclude even your so-called girlfriend from adding anything new to you PC, as easy as setting the USER Account Control in Windows 7. With Windows XP, you have to use XP Pro and have your OWN password YOU keep it to yourself... And have your girlfriend sign on as a GUEST and as a limited account. WHO does the PC belong to? IF she adds MS Office 2007, 2010, or 2013, She is not aware you can exclude Onenote from the installation... OR tell her to get her OWN PC so she can put what SHE wants on or in it. They are cheap enough when bought refurbished. I will never use MS Office 2007 Student again for whatever reason or if is free... with Windows 7 Home premium just because of its nonsense it creates, even if someone paid me to use it. I am having some issues in using MS Office 2000 Pro, with Windows 7, but that one out of three PCs having Windows 7 to begin with. That is, the office assistant hangs up in closing whatever subprogram I am using, (Word or Excel), because ITS Office Assistant is never part of the startup procedure to begin with; even if I put its server in the Startup folder I have to put its Server on the taskbar and start or stop it from showing. It varies according to each PC's installation. MS Word 2000 Pro does an excellent job in making any type of labels. Some label templates have to go on line to get and/or see what matches the list MS Word has for them... Avery has its style but Office Max does not. I use File folder labels to label what type of drive is the enclosure it is in as to WHO, what type of drive it is and the size it is. I had to go on line to get Avery's 5202 file folder template and I can print each label independently or as a group, or all the same... Now I use a black Sharpie felt tip pen to mark the aluminum case and it stay on the metal case as long as I want it to be, or erase it by getting a very cheap rug spot remover cleaner and it comes off in a clean cloth wipe-pee like it was not there at all. THAT stuff also removes the label and its glue when it gets wet enough, and Windex is no match to it. (Paper dissolves when it gets wet anyway), but the glue stays put, but as not to scratch the metal surface, use a dry baby wipe that is not oily or smelly.

I have had to uninstall this multiple times. I tried it out and than my girlfriend downloaded it again. My issue is this, I print out between 10-30 labels for my ebay business every day and when onenote is installed it constantly makes me go to onenote every time I print a page, making the process painfully slow.

     To me, I have an issue for PC performance, because I run my nine PCs with so many drives, about fifteen or so, and any extra processes or programs take away from the computer's CPU's process time and it becomes slower by the number of drives and processes it has, as I watch very closely. And ONE NOTE does fill up the disk drive with its extraneous "Onenote.nonenote TOC", whatever, file for whatever reason, IS valuabe drive space taken away at a tune of 4 MB per file per folder, that slows things down for me. Of course, you do what you want with your PC, and it is NOT noticable at first, but, all those files are empty space wasted for something else you can put there in its place, as it becomes more critical if you have to put everything on Drive letter C alone. AS to see this performance, I see int in the CPU Graph in the Task Manager, Also in the Performance Monitor in Windows Vista or 7. If you want to USE One Note for everything, that is your business, I wont use it at all. I rather use MS Office 2000 Pro instead, and that works for me even with Windows 7. If I want to make a note, I use "motepad" it is straight and simple to use. IF I want to get fancy, I use "MS Word 2000 Pro" 

     Windows itself, creates this type of file as "Thumbs.db" once you customize a folder or put something in it, is normally hidden and can be deleted and if it is needed it is again recreated with no harm done. That is something I can live without. IN Windows 98, it defines the index to which filename to which image, it shows as thumbnails and is critical to it. Windows XP or later, is a carryover from that and is NOT critical to delete any or all of these files. One place it wont show is in the root folder on the drive or partition, that is the purpose of "System Volume Information" and it is usually hidden and somewhat protected in viewing. I try to delete as much of the old compressed files as yesterday's "dirty diapers" as much as possible... besides "Disk Cleanup" and I constantly Defragment each and every partition, maybe, you do not have this as a problem YET?

I am not sure why this has become such a hot button issue. I am sorry that my comments have made it worse.

I added the remove instructions at the top f the thread because I thought it would help people. It was done directly from my uninstalling it for a test. Let me repeat the basics of that instruction, since a piece of it seems to have gotten lost:

From Start --> Control Panel --> Programs and Features, find your version of Office in the list of programs. Click the "Change" link at the top of the list. Wait for Office to do the set up. On the list of options, select "Add or Remove Features". Click Continue. Select OneNote from the list. RIght click it and select "Not Availalbe", then click continue again. Your computer will buzz for a while.... When done, OneNote should be removed from your computer.

Please be sure that you have another printer available to that machine so that you get a new default printer once Send to OneNote is gone.

As for the other question: No - OneNote doesn't slow down my machine. I usually have at least one instance of it up and I don't see any slow down at all. In fact, installing it and getting it set up only takes a minute or two on my machines. I would love to know more about what is on your machines that is causing the slow down.

Some of us do care about OneNote problems. Just because I can't live without it doesn't mean you should use it. I am sorry for the problems this thread has caused.
