view only one page on the screen at a time

Hi,

I'm running Microsoft Office XP on win7 64bit and can't seem to find a way to view only one page in a Word document. If I download or write more than one page they come up in two page side by side format on the screen. Is there a way to set one page at a time viewing as default?

Guys, there is a VERY easy fix for Office XP / 2003 users:

Make your MS Word window fullscreen

Now it might display 2 pages side by side (depending on your screen resolution)

To get back to a single page while using the PRINT LAYOUT view, follow below:

Click on VIEW -> choose WEB LAYOUT -> Click VIEW again -> now go back to PRINT LAYOUT

The problem should be solved, if it occurs again in the future, just follow these quick steps

    That's a single remedy but not a fix. People who work with Word everyday need a permanent default fix but doing this every time is simply far too inefficient.

    I think what trumpy9404 (and lilly74) are asking is how do you view one page only (centered) in Word while retaining the zoom level at 100%. Terry, you can always enforce a one-page, centered view by choosing a high enough zoom level, but who wants to work with print that big?

    This question has been asked before in other forums, but no one at Microsoft or elsewhere seems to have an answer.  The problem occurs in Word 2007, and to my surprise it has even been carried through to Word 2010 without a fix.  Some people (including me) simply don't like the two-page layout in Word, and just want one page on the screen, centered, at 100%.  Word doesn't seem to be able to provide that.

    With today's wider screens the problem is simply exacerbated.  The level of zoom which you need to go to to achieve a single-page, centered view is simply unworkable.

    It surprises me that this problem has been allowed to persist, and has not been fixed in the latest versions of Word.  So, is there a setting buried somewhere in the depths of Word 2007 and Word 2010 which no one has found, or do we just look forward to Microsoft waking up by 2013?

    Bill Gates is just simply far too busy counting his money to fix his programs for his customers.
