view only one page on the screen at a time

Hi,

I'm running Microsoft Office XP on win7 64bit and can't seem to find a way to view only one page in a Word document. If I download or write more than one page they come up in two page side by side format on the screen. Is there a way to set one page at a time viewing as default?

Guys, there is a VERY easy fix for Office XP / 2003 users:

Make your MS Word window fullscreen

Now it might display 2 pages side by side (depending on your screen resolution)

To get back to a single page while using the PRINT LAYOUT view, follow below:

Click on VIEW -> choose WEB LAYOUT -> Click VIEW again -> now go back to PRINT LAYOUT

The problem should be solved, if it occurs again in the future, just follow these quick steps

    Why do we need to have a degree in Computer Science or be professional code writers to use a program we paid hundreds of dollars for?  I'm a psychology professor, not a computer scientist.  I don't have time to go cutting and pasting code into the software I purchase.  I just expect it to WORK.

    Thanks Graham but I'm a complete novice with computer fiddling and don't know the difference between a macros  and a nachos! I was just seeking an easy, (for me), workaround for what i thought would be a one click solution.

    Graham, the solution which you offered works just fine.  Thank you for taking the time to post it.

    Trumpy9404 and lilly74, I encourage you to persevere with the solution which Graham has provided.  It worked for me in Word 2010, and it worked on another machine running Word 2007, both for opening existing Word documents and creating new ones.  The document which Graham referenced might appear daunting, but you only need to follow the first part of it to implement it.

    Jay, I invite you to reread your post and to reconsider its merit.

    Microsoft, putting your customers to this amount of effort for something which is so obvious and which has generated so much communication is senseless.  Don't let yet another update of Word go by without without including a simple, one-click setting.
