view only one page on the screen at a time

Hi,

I'm running Microsoft Office XP on win7 64bit and can't seem to find a way to view only one page in a Word document. If I download or write more than one page they come up in two page side by side format on the screen. Is there a way to set one page at a time viewing as default?

Guys, there is a VERY easy fix for Office XP / 2003 users:

Make your MS Word window fullscreen

Now it might display 2 pages side by side (depending on your screen resolution)

To get back to a single page while using the PRINT LAYOUT view, follow below:

Click on VIEW -> choose WEB LAYOUT -> Click VIEW again -> now go back to PRINT LAYOUT

The problem should be solved, if it occurs again in the future, just follow these quick steps

    Head Gorilla, I think you said it all. Microsoft never seem to get it right initially, rather they rush in with an early release to make more $$'s. Then when there are queries and/or hiccups, no answers are forthcoming. And they wonder why people are looking for alternatives???

    Graham, thanks for the idea but I'm not too confident messing with registry edits etc, so I'll just put up with it.........or maybe have a go at OpenOffice.org!!!

    No arguments from me here. I like to work with one page central too. I’m only the messenger and the answer is that you cannot. I have to use at least 116% to get a single, centered page.

    It isn’t satisfactory as I would prefer to work at 100% too.

    In a previous reply to the origin of this thread I replied that the only work around that I know is to keep the DocMap (or Navigation Pane in WD2010) open and adjust the width of the pane to force the 100% page approximately centered. As an alternative to the Nav/DocMap panes, you could open the Styles Pane (which I find more useful) and dock it on the left to do the same.
