Old Style Word Art in Word 2010?

Could anyone tell me whether it is possible to insert Word Art similar to that in versions of MS Word from 2003 and before?  The Word Art in MS Word 2010 only seems to appear in straight lines, whereas I would sometimes prefer to have the writing in the style of a curved banner?  Have MS just removed this option, oram I looking in the wrong place? It just doesn't seem to be an option? Thanks. P.S, I know the text can be offset at an angle, but clicking on the small green circle, but I want the writing to curve?

Word 2010's WordArt is a bit more powerful than you suspect, I believe. Insert a WordArt object, then, in Drawing Tools - Format, look at Text Effects - Transform. Does that give you what you want?

If not, you can still get the old style. Save the file in Word 2003 format, and now when you choose Insert - WordArt, you'll see the legacy choices.

    I've still got an issue with WordArt in 2010.  No matter how you slice it, I cannot get the same results as were possible under 2003.  I want to be able to apply specific characteristics such as curved, tapered, slanted & 3-D to a WordArt created text box.  Under 2003, you could select from an array of styles, select it & further modify, changing transparency, colors, shading, etc.

    So far, I cannot find any way to do this in either 2007 or 2010.  I have several Power Point & Word documents that have these objects inserted and when I pull them up in either 2007 or 2010, the object disappears.

    Am I to assume that I must keep a copy of 2003 installed on one of my workstations in order to produce these effects?

    Don't assume any such thing. I can routinely take Word 2003 documents containing WordArt and open them in either 2007 or 2010. The WordArt appears, and when it's selected the WordArt Tools context ribbon is shown; that has all the tools from the 2003 WordArt toolbar.

    Instead, I would assume that there's something wrong with either your documents or your Office 2007/2010 setup or options.

    When you say "the object disappears", do you mean it can't be seen/selected at all? Go to the Word Options dialog in 2007/2010, click the Advanced tab of the dialog, scroll down to the "Show document content" section, and make sure "Show drawings and text boxes on screen" is checked. (But there isn't a similar option in PowerPoint as far as I'm aware).
