Old Style Word Art in Word 2010?

Could anyone tell me whether it is possible to insert Word Art similar to that in versions of MS Word from 2003 and before?  The Word Art in MS Word 2010 only seems to appear in straight lines, whereas I would sometimes prefer to have the writing in the style of a curved banner?  Have MS just removed this option, oram I looking in the wrong place? It just doesn't seem to be an option? Thanks. P.S, I know the text can be offset at an angle, but clicking on the small green circle, but I want the writing to curve?

Word 2010's WordArt is a bit more powerful than you suspect, I believe. Insert a WordArt object, then, in Drawing Tools - Format, look at Text Effects - Transform. Does that give you what you want?

If not, you can still get the old style. Save the file in Word 2003 format, and now when you choose Insert - WordArt, you'll see the legacy choices.

    I agree with Herb Tyson. You can create curved effects under text effects.

    HOWEVER the older version of Word Art was, in my opinion, far better.

    I loved the way that you could resize the entire word by dragging the sizing handles.

    The word could be expanded or decreased horizontally, vertically or both.

    You could create a piece of word art and easily and perfectly fit it into any tiny or large area of your document.

    The font size would change with the sizing handles. You did not have to keep choosing a new font size.

    This became so frustrating that I keep an older copy of a word document handy on my desktop. The word document contains the older word art which I just copy and paste into my new 2010 word document. Then I just edit the text as I need to.

    I wish they would have left the word art alone. (They also screwed  up the grouping feature.)

    What ever happened to "if it ain't broke, don't fix it"?

    Although there may be other reasons for retaining an older version of Word, you can get old-style WordArt in 2010 just by saving a document in Word 97-2003 .doc format.

    Another way besides the ways of DanO1981 (thanx) is to select  File > New > then click on My templates.

    You should get a popup window with several selections.

    Select NormalOld and you should get a word 2k3, 2k7 style sheet, select Insert tab > WordArt and you should see the familiar old templates (curved, standout, lateral, etc...).

    At some point saving such a library might be needed and useful. However, you can get all of Word 2003 WordArt by saving a document in Word 2003 (.doc) format. If you don't want to do that, you can create a separate document in that format, make your WordArt and then copy and paste into the Word 2007-2013 formatted document.
