Hi

Did you use Insert -> Header & Footer? Check to see if the page number placeholder is truned on on the Master - View -> Slide Master -> Slide Master tab -> Master Layout -> check 'Slide Number' is ticked. If it is and you still can't see it it may be behind another element on the slide master - select the 'mother' master (the big one at the top) then Home -> Select drop down -> Selection Pane -> select 'Slide Number Placeholder' -> click the re-order up button (at the bottom of the taskpane) until the slide number placeholder is at the top.

If none of that works, let us know exactly what you have tried and exactly what is happening. Also, if the file was created in a previous version or has been edited in a previous version.

I have checked everything I can check and the slide numbers refuse to appear on my slides.

I see the placeholder on the 'mother' master slide and I copied it to all the layout slides.  I also checked the Selection Pane order and the slide number was at the top on all slides.

Not sure it it's important but when I select View --> Slide Master, select the 'mother' slide, and click on Master Layout, Title, Text and Slide number are all checked but grayed out.

    Ideas?

This is could be happening as the background is overlapping the footer and slide number

Method 1: Right click on the background Picture > click on send to back

    Method 2:

Click on the picture > Under Picture Tools, click the Format tab >In the Arrange group, do one of the following:

§  To bring an object one step closer to the front, click the arrow next to Bring to Front, and then click Bring Forward.

§  To bring an object to the front, click the arrow next to Bring to Front, and then click Bring to Front.

§  To send an object one step toward the back, click the arrow next to Send to Back, and then click Send Backward.

§  To send an object to the back, click the arrow next to Send to Back, and then click Send to Back.
