Outlook webpage refreshes whenever emails with attachments are opened or writing new emails

Just as the title says, this began for the first time this morning. My Outlook webpage will refresh within seconds of opening any emails with attachments or opening up a new email to write regardless of email account or browser. I've tried on Microsoft Edge, Firefox, and my main browser, Chrome, to no avail. Have not found any solutions including clearing browsing history/cache/cookies, disabling any and all extensions, and even removing extensions from my browser entirely. I've also reset my password twice, restarted my computer, and don't know what to do from here.

I have the same issue in Chrome browser. Clearing chrome cache temporarily fixed the issue for 3 days now it's back.

This issue occurs when authentication partially times out, such as when an attachment is being fetched in the background and fails with a 440 error. The current workaround is to sign out and sign back into your Microsoft account.

It’s frustrating that end-users constantly have to provide detailed instructions and reproduction steps when these issues should be identifiable within your code. It feels like all responsibility is shifted onto users while little effort is made on your end to proactively resolve them.

Microsoft still struggles with proper session management. For example in Teams, even after a session has expired across all devices, users may still receive mobile notifications, even though re-authentication is required. An absolutely trash implementation.

This issue seems to extend here as well. The session appears to be in a partially logged-in/logged-out state: you can browse and refresh your emails, but when attempting to open one and fetch an attachment, an error occurs. The Web App then attempts to resolve it by refreshing the page, assuming the sign-in page will appear if the session has expired.

    1. I tired to update the app from the settings and it updated but the issue persisted.
    2. I re-installed Chrome by deleting the current app and downloading fresh installer from Chrome's website. It seems to have fixed the issue. However, I would wait and monitor. The issue so far has been coming back after some time of clearing Cache/Cookies and restarting. Lets hope the app update fixes it completely.

    I believe I found a solution.

I had a coworker with this same issue. First I've seen and found this thread. She uses Chrome on Mac and if you go to Settings, Help, About Google Chrome, her version was stuck in "updating" even with no updating showing that it was available.

I just downloaded the newest Chrome from Google's website and reinstalled it. After the install, went back to the About in Settings and all looks good. No more updates stuck. No more refreshes (so far today).

    Hope this helps.

I had the same problem. Clearing the cache fixed it but the root cause is most likely that I was logged into another Microsoft Office 365 account. My original via GoDaddy and the second one, directly with Microsoft. These 2 accounts were most likely vying for the Compose message thread of my browser. Just a theory but seems to hold weight.
