Removing Copilot from Outlook email

UPDATE 28Apr2025: I renewed and changed my subscription to Microsoft Personal Classic and that *seemed* to eliminate Co-Pilot. For how long? Who knows? But at least now its no longer showing up on my emails. Thank you to everyone who shared my frustrations and who offered suggestions.

How do I remove Copilot from my Outlook email (and all other applications for that matter)? I have a 5 year old MacBook Pro. I use Outlook (Hotmail account) and all of a sudden CoPilot has appeared when I start writing or replying to emails. I do NOT want it. I do NOT need it. It is VERY distracting and I want to disable and/or remove it. Any advice would be most appreciated. I tried searching online but could not find a suitable answer. Thank you.

I do not know if I have the New or Legacy Outlook.

Agreed! It needs to be done away with at best, and removable by an individual at the very least.

    Dear Marla Jo,

Thanks for using Microsoft products and posting in the community.

I understand that you want to remove Copilot from your Outlook emails and that this is causing you problems, I understand how you feel.

I know: Copilot came up while you were editing your email and it bothered you, and I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.

After thorough research and consultation, it has been concluded that there is no Copilot-related switch to disable or remove it at this time.

We do understand your concerns about this feature and how it distracts you from your productivity.

However, as it relates to Outlook product design, it is highly recommended that you direct your valuable feedback to the Microsoft Product Development team:

You can use your computer to access the web version of Outlook: https://outlook.live.com/ , log in to your email account, Help - Feedback - Report a Problem

You can expect subsequent updates to Outlook.

You can mark my reply as “yes” so that more users are aware of the issue, and the more users are concerned about the issue, the more attention the issue will be given.

Thank you for taking the time to accept our understanding. If you have any other questions, please feel free to post a new thread in the forum.

Your understanding and patience will be greatly appreciated.

    Have a great day.

    Best Regards,

    Dear Microsoft.

I simply CANNOT believe that you added a really stupid and completely unneeded function to your Microsoft 365 that YOU CAN"T GET RID OFF??? You wrote the bloody pilot program. Your infuriating pilot pop-up has completely blocked access to my email account. And I am simply not stupid enough to click on "got it' on the popup; you'll probably take that as consent to run my outlook account. I WISH I had time (or access) to change all of my outlook to Gmail. I'm not crazy about Gmail, but I am getting far less crazy about outlook by the minute. I notice that I am FAR from the only person here who feels this way. Nothing like sending your customers screaming to another platform.

I agree with the rest of you. Who asked for this obnoxious copilot feature and why is it forced on us, there should be a disable feature!

I don't suppose there's anything we can actually do besides express outrage. Or is there? (Open for suggestions.) It would be nice to at least know that some human at Microsoft is aware of this point of view. It would be better yet if there was a reason to think they actually cared.
