UPDATE 28Apr2025: I renewed and changed my subscription to Microsoft Personal Classic and that *seemed* to eliminate Co-Pilot. For how long? Who knows? But at least now its no longer showing up on my emails. Thank you to everyone who shared my frustrations and who offered suggestions.
How do I remove Copilot from my Outlook email (and all other applications for that matter)? I have a 5 year old MacBook Pro. I use Outlook (Hotmail account) and all of a sudden CoPilot has appeared when I start writing or replying to emails. I do NOT want it. I do NOT need it. It is VERY distracting and I want to disable and/or remove it. Any advice would be most appreciated. I tried searching online but could not find a suitable answer. Thank you.

It bodes ill for our future when people can't even bother to read their emails but must resort to an AI "helper" for the task. Why bother with humans at all? AI can write the emails, it can read the emails, and understand them well enough to give us summaries. Humans are clearly the irrelevant ones, here.
I have found an interim solution.
I have installed uBlock Origin on Firefox. Using the Element Zapper, I have hidden the buttons and inline prompts. The button on the top right is gone completely, and the button within the writing box is invisible and its hitbox reduced significantly.
However, I still await an option to permanently disable the collection of my data for AI and the installation of programs without my prior informed consent. Among other changes...
Because they're smart enough to have found a way around it. It seems to be a losing battle. They could at least have the decency to let you hide the obnoxious thing instead of having it insist on being right where you're typing.
There's no reason they can't make changes to this thing to have some happier customers. They could much better spend their time restoring all the lost access to USB ports which absolutely vanished. Not a single thing has been done to restore them. They make the mess then only go so far as to tell people to look online to find a way to restore them. Balderdash!
Copilot is spyware. why isn't my AV quarantining it?!?!?!
I was checking to see if CoPilot config or preferences had been updated, and the entire office suite of 365 was found installed on my MacBook. I'd deleted all Microsoft apps 3 months ago, in attempts to clean up a storage and backup issue on the OS. Also, because I didn't want anything more stored locally. Preferring apps running on web service instead.
What the F? I did not confirm installation. I removed them again since I'm still working on the issue above. Has this ever happened to anyone else?
I've also caught Copilot (etal) editing Hotmail messages _AFTER_ I hit send.
Hey MSFT, your robot has exceeded its authorization.
All I want is web email. Actively searching for alternative. This is ridiculous. Also, ISO anti MSFT security software. Installing wo permission, downloading my data to additional services or research, etc is not ok with me.
