Removing Copilot from Outlook email

UPDATE 28Apr2025: I renewed and changed my subscription to Microsoft Personal Classic and that *seemed* to eliminate Co-Pilot. For how long? Who knows? But at least now its no longer showing up on my emails. Thank you to everyone who shared my frustrations and who offered suggestions.

How do I remove Copilot from my Outlook email (and all other applications for that matter)? I have a 5 year old MacBook Pro. I use Outlook (Hotmail account) and all of a sudden CoPilot has appeared when I start writing or replying to emails. I do NOT want it. I do NOT need it. It is VERY distracting and I want to disable and/or remove it. Any advice would be most appreciated. I tried searching online but could not find a suitable answer. Thank you.

I do not know if I have the New or Legacy Outlook.

    It's been over 6 months now and I too have a CoPilot button in my Microsoft Outlook that I find rather annoying and I am not able to remove.

    I really don't plan to use it and I find it rather insulting to have this this button and not be allowed to turn it off, let alone be asked if I want the feature.

    It's the same MS experience I receive since Microsoft made it mandatory that the links we see in Windows search and other places open through Microsoft Edge. This totally ignores my default web browser and takes control of my computer away from me. I think that there is a name for that, yes?

    Now that MS has provided me a web browser that I can't control and a CoPilot button that I can't control what other freedoms is MS planning to take from me?

    Using our emails to feed info to your AI investments and growth without our consent is despicable at best. We pay for years to have a profesional service from Microsoft. Not an abusive psychotic behavior from a company looking to make money on the short run but losing its most smart loyal customer base. Looking for alternatives.

    Simply inacceptable. I wait for a reaction from MS soon or bye-bye.

    Just take it away and stop having people jump through hoops to do this and that. Microsoft added this havoc without the consent of many people. I do not want copilot. Just give a solution to the clear ongoing problem, please!

    Does that work if you use the web based outlook.com email?

    If it works, why didn't Microsoft Support know about it?

    I'm going to give it a try, right after I verify copilot it still stalking me.

    It doesn't work, and Copilot keeps stalking and chasing you, trying to block your writing, even on the app.

    If she selected "Classic" (without AI) for $99 US, the changes go into effect only after the current subscription with the annoying AI WEB mail expires, October 14, 2025, in my case.

    It's like the Terminator chasing Sarah Connor. I guess we'll just have to wait for T2: Judgment Day.

    If you have a MS Office 365 subscription, you can downgrade to MS Office 365 "Classic", which does not include Copilot.

    I just learned this and made the switch by going to my Microsoft account, clicked on Subcriptions, and then cancelled my 365 subscription.

    When I did that, it even had the option to switch to Classic on the confirmation page.

    And it was a little bit cheaper!
