How can I disable Copilot completely in my Outlook WEB interface?

Recently, I've started getting things like "Summary by Copilot" or "Try Draft with Copilot" inside my Outlook WEB interface.

I've searched the help pages and online, but could not find a way to completely disconnect Copilot from my email web interface. I don't want it to even scan my emails.

I feel like I've got AI pushed down my throat lately by everyone, and frankly, I really don't want it.

    I totally agree with this and the many others (including myself) who have made similar comments.

    What we urgently need is a response from Microsoft.

    As subscribers to your software, users have the right to know what you are planning to do about this ridiculous situation. Or is your philosophy "Ignore them, and they will go away". The risk you take with this approach is that they will literally do just that, and migrate to another software platform.

    This is BS.. Not only do I get a crappy app that I don't want and can't get rid of, I find out that Microsoft is charging me ca. £30 for it too without ever asking me...

    There is a way to downgrade to Family Classic - which is exactly what I had subscribed to and is the same £79.99/year - but it isn't obvious.

    • Login in to your account
    • Go to Subscriptions
    • Select Manage on the right hand side
    • Cancel Subscription - you will get a warning about how much cloud storage you are using and will lose this if you cancel.
    • Below this warning there is Switch Plan for Family Classic option.
    • Choose this and use the same Payment method.

    And bingo, you are back to Classic without the AI stuff and at the original price, set to renew at the next Renewal rate as shown at the start. The AI stuff is still present until renewal.

    I did this earlier today and it worked - hopefully! I guess I'll find out after the renewal, which for me is next month.

    It is devious of Microsoft to add the extra charge to your subscription without notifying you and giving you the chance to agree or disagree whether you want to pay a much higher fee for AI or not.

    I find this response from Microsoft to be preposterious!

    If you can allow Outlook desktop app users the ability to disable Copilot, why is there a need to make that function not available to Outlook web app users?

    What is happening for me is that Copilot is interfering while I write and making it hard to simply type in a new message or reply message. Really? I know that's not the goal, but it is negatively impacting the application's performance. I want the option to turn off Copilot!

    Please escalate this request to add the feature of disabling Copilot in Outlook web app. All of the contributors to this thread are asking for it!
