How can I disable Copilot completely in my Outlook WEB interface?

Recently, I've started getting things like "Summary by Copilot" or "Try Draft with Copilot" inside my Outlook WEB interface.

I've searched the help pages and online, but could not find a way to completely disconnect Copilot from my email web interface. I don't want it to even scan my emails.

I feel like I've got AI pushed down my throat lately by everyone, and frankly, I really don't want it.

    Remember back when we fought to keep government and big business out of our emails? Remember when the idea of someone looking through our stuff felt so creepy and invasive that we banded together to keep email private? Now Microsoft feels that they can search through our emails and make suggestions for what we write next and they're promoting it as a feature.

    Microsoft, please stop pushing copilot on us.

    Well some of you might already have noticed this, but someone at Microsoft has finally woken up to the mountain of complaints about compulsory Copilot in Outlook web ...

    Select settings | Copilot then turn off the Copilot switch.

    -- an option which should have been there from day 1 !

    Fingers crossed this is now permanent, and that no-one decides to remove it anytime.

    I get my mail through GoDaddy and definitely pay plenty for it. Today I logged into it on linux using the web interface. The whole screen is filled with some Microsoft CoPilot garbage. I didn't ask for a CoPilot. Please indicate where the ejector seat is.

    I did this earlier today and it worked - hopefully! I guess I'll find out after the renewal, which for me is next month.

    It is devious of Microsoft to add the extra charge to your subscription without notifying you and giving you the chance to agree or disagree whether you want to pay a much higher fee for AI or not.

    Thank you to others who have pointed this out.

    There is a way to downgrade to Family Classic - which is exactly what I had subscribed to and is the same £79.99/year - but it isn't obvious.

    • Login in to your account
    • Go to Subscriptions
    • Select Manage on the right hand side
    • Cancel Subscription - you will get a warning about how much cloud storage you are using and will lose this if you cancel.
    • Below this warning there is Switch Plan for Family Classic option.
    • Choose this and use the same Payment method.

    And bingo, you are back to Classic without the AI stuff and at the original price, set to renew at the next Renewal rate as shown at the start. The AI stuff is still present until renewal.
