Outlook Mail won't let me sign in

I just tried to access Outlook and I've been greeted with this message:

Something went wrong and we can't sign you in right now. Please try again later.

The Microsoft account login server has detected too many repeated authentication attempts. Please wait a moment and try again.

I've reset my password, been sent five or six e-mail login codes which have gotten me nowhere - and it wouldn't even send me one to my phone - and I am at the end of my patience. Can someone please advise me what I need to do to fix this? I've been locked out on my iPad and my phone, and trying to refresh on my laptop just gets me that message.

I also have this issue despite news sites reporting it has been sorted. Last night, I was prompted to re-enter my password. Immediately it came back with too many attempts. Tried to verify but it either didn’t send verification codes or said it couldn’t verify me. Not knowing this was a Microsoft problem, I too the advice and this morning setup a new email account. But I can’t verify the new one either. It says they can’t text a verification code to the number I supplied. Tried to ring to sort it out but because I said it was a login issue I was directed to a website which (surprise, surprise) doesn’t verify me. And now when I ring, it recognises my number and just repeats the advice.

I spent over 2 hours with Geek Squad in effort to resolve, they tried everything and finally said to wait on MS to fix it, the issue is on their end and supposedly they (MS) are working to fix it

I requested support through Microsoft help online. Microsoft called me back.

Did you manage to resolve this in the end? I'm still getting the same problem
