How to stop Outlook from jumping to older emails every time I click on unread email?

I started encountering this problem recently. I didn't make any changes that should have prompted this newfound issue. When I click on an unread email (I sort my emails by date, the newest at the top), Outlook will frequently automatically scroll down in my Inbox to older emails (usually to yesterday's or last week's emails). It also happens when I click on an older email after reading a new email. It doesn't do this every time, but I would say it does it more times than not. I searched to see if anyone else had encountered this problem and found a couple of posts. I followed Microsoft's instructions (disabling add-ins, repairing the application, restarting, updating, etc.), and nothing has fixed this issue. This is a super annoying glitch, and I'm tired of constantly scrolling back up in my inbox every time I go through my newer emails.

If it helps or matters, I use Microsoft 365 Apps for Business, Version 2411, Build 16.0.18227.20082. I do not like the new Outlook, so I am using the classic version on my desktop (not web-based). My computer is a Lenovo ThinkPad with Windows 11 Pro, 24H2 version.

Here is the Known Issue article for formal tracking, Classic Outlook jumps in the message list when clicking an email or scrolling - Microsoft Support. I'll report back when we get any more updates.

**** Microsoft!!! It's been over a month since this bug has started occurring and you guys still haven't released an update fix?!??!? What's going on over there! I've had to abandon Outlook on ALL of my office computers because all my staff were driving me crazy complaining about their emails jumping back to old emails randomly every minute. I did ALL of the recommendations. I disabled all com add-ins, checked for updates, updated all my drivers, reset my view settings, everything. And as hundreds of others have reported, the bug is still there. Are you guys even looking at this problem? Like everyone has stated, it started around mid-December. It's not rocket-science for crying out loud, check whatever update(s) were released in December and figure out where you messed up and fix it! I've been paying for a corporate 365 subscription so this is very upsetting. If it's not fixed by the end of this month I'll be cancelling all my business Microsoft accounts.

I have a couple users with 365 that have this and nothing in this thread I tried worked.

I put in a ticket with Microsoft and they responded quickly and we retried and attempted a few things through quick assist but nothing resolved it even starting in safe mode. They confirmed this is a known issue, had no more suggestions to try but documented settings and forwarded this to their back end team who is still investigating this.

One workaround that mitigates it slightly is I noticed at least for one user, that it would jump down to emails roughly around 1-13-25 or a bit older. I moved all inbox emails older than 1-15-25 to a new subfolder and the jumping problem (so far) stays with that subfolder and the inbox functions normally so at least working with current emails they won't have to deal with it. It's possible that just sending a smaller chunk that includes all of the "bad" emails to a subfolder would work too.

[Some things tried: none had Grammarly, focused inbox toggled on/off, online office repair, reset views (in GUI and outlook.exe /cleanviews), disabled all add-ins, highlighted all emails and set "clear flags", also tried outlook.exe /cleanips and clicking "clear offline" items for inbox) (deleting the .ost would temporarily fix it until the cache repopulated to a certain point again. )]

I have exactly the same issue and can't work with this problem. Please make a bug fix!
BTW I have no Grammarly, never installed and never used. Therefore is isn't the problem...

I'm sorry it didn't help everyone out there.

Grammarly for Windows was the culprit for me. Switched to the Grammarly Outlook add-in and I'm issue-free now.
