Outlook desktop calendar defaults to open at 12am instead of the work day

I use the desktop version and it opens with midnight at the top instead of 8am like is used to

  1. the Web version opens to the current time but the desktop version opens to 12am (see screen shot)

I would like it to open either to the beginning of my day (at 8am like is used to) or the current time is fine as well (like the web version does)

I can scroll down every time but its annoying. My work hours are set to 8am-4pm. I am not using New Outlook because you cannot move the folders around. This issue is only a few months old.

    The bigger question is why was it changed in the client application? Who did that change benefit? What was the logic for implementing that change for all users?

    This worked for me! It was driving me bonkers on my desktop version. Went to the online version, literally saved (no changes) the work hours and location and it fixed.

    The feature is only available at Current Channel. I asked my peers that cover Calendar to find out the latest status and update the content to reflect where it is supposed to be, Set your work hours and location in Outlook - Microsoft Support.

    In the meantime, unless your company restricts your Office channel you could switch to Current Channel to use the feature. There are several approaches/tools to change channel. Here is one I used yesterday and worked well for me:

    Enable Update Channel button in Outlook/Office apps.

    1. Close classic Outlook
    2. Go to this MVP article, Let users decide their Microsoft 365 Apps (Office 365) Release Channel - Robert 365
    3. In that article under Method 2 download the registry key officechannelexposure.zip, then right click the zip file and extract it.
    4. Double click on the exported registry file officechannelexposure.reg to install it.
    5. Start Outlook
    6. Click File, Office Account, click Update Channel and pick Current Channel. Office will start updating to Current Channel. If it does not start updating immediately click File, Office Account, Update Options, Update Now.

    This change adds the Update Channel button when you go to File, Office Account, Update Channel.

    Ensuring that the Location drop down for each day in Work Hours was set to Remote is what fixed it for us. Click Work Hours under Options->Calendar and once you set the location on each day, close then reopen Outlook and it should work.

    There is no such selection for location when using Options > Calendar > Work Hours. It only has options for selecting the days in the work week and the work hours start and end times (which are ignored when visiting the calendar page). times. This does not fix the issue, something changed in Outlook because this never happened in the past. Using Microsoft® Outlook® for Microsoft 365 MSO (Version 2408 Build 16.0.17928.20336) 64-bit. Please post a resolution that is really available in Outlook!
