Using New Outlook on Windows for personal email, calendar, and contact management
Outlook support is aware of this issue and just confirmed to me "engineering" is working on it. There is nothing we can do to fix this on our end.
This browser is no longer supported.
Upgrade to Microsoft Edge to take advantage of the latest features, security updates, and technical support.
For several months now, when I click on links in emails from LinkedIn or Indeed, Outlook (new) opens two (2) tabs for the same link. Every time.
It does not do this if I switch back to the (Old) Outlook.
It does not do this if I open the same email/links in my Outlook 365 desktop application.
Since Microsofte embedded "safelinks" scanning, the Outlook (New) app has been a royal pain with links in emails, hiding links from view, and with this additional irritation, it seems that the development team have lost the plot.
My "Default" browser has no bearing on the result., it does it in Chrome or Firefox when set to default.
Switch to the old version of Outlook App, the issue goes away.
Forward an email to my priamary Outlook365 mailboxes... the issue is non existent...
By testing 3 versions of Outook with 3 web browsers, I only get the issue with the New Outlook App,... therefore I can only conclude that Microsoft have fudged this (New Outlook) version up even more.
*Note that for me it is only email links from LinkedIn and Indeed job alert emails and notifications, I have yet to find another platforms emails that are affected.
Are you getting any issues with these?
Lmk here if you find any other major platform emails too,
Ta!

Same issue here! It does not happen in classic Outlook and only started Friday. It is not isolated to Chrome, as I've tried Edge as well with the same duplicate tabs opening. It does not happen if I right click and click open link. Just when clicking links. Very irriating. I have tried repairing and reseting new Outlook with no luck.
I can see that someone already has talked to Microsoft support, and all they can do is the classic "It's the other guys fault" response, meaning, it is Chrome's fault. This is obviously not the case, since it only happens when clicking a link from the New Outlook and nowhere else. The classic Outlook doesn't do this. Perhaps support would be more helpful if they would actually spend time working with the customer to troubleshoot rather than just ignore the problem.
I am also having the same issue. Any link I clicks opens twice or MORE. I am using Outlook on the web on Chrome on a Mac. Has anyone found a solution? It isn't a problem on my Outlook phone app.
I am having this same problem, it is quite frustrating. Hoping for a fix soon.
