Outlook (new) opens 2 (two) tabs from email links from Indeed and LinkedIn. Old outlook is not affected, nor is Outlook 365. Same issue, different browsers....

For several months now, when I click on links in emails from LinkedIn or Indeed, Outlook (new) opens two (2) tabs for the same link. Every time.

It does not do this if I switch back to the (Old) Outlook.

It does not do this if I open the same email/links in my Outlook 365 desktop application.

Since Microsofte embedded "safelinks" scanning, the Outlook (New) app has been a royal pain with links in emails, hiding links from view, and with this additional irritation, it seems that the development team have lost the plot.

My "Default" browser has no bearing on the result., it does it in Chrome or Firefox when set to default.

Switch to the old version of Outlook App, the issue goes away.

Forward an email to my priamary Outlook365 mailboxes... the issue is non existent...

By testing 3 versions of Outook with 3 web browsers, I only get the issue with the New Outlook App,... therefore I can only conclude that Microsoft have fudged this (New Outlook) version up even more.

*Note that for me it is only email links from LinkedIn and Indeed job alert emails and notifications, I have yet to find another platforms emails that are affected.

Are you getting any issues with these?

Lmk here if you find any other major platform emails too,

Ta!

And if you don't have a middle mouse button. Right click and 'Open link' for me also opens just 1 tab.

I confirmed that middle mouse click does open only one tab in Edge. Thanks.

The error in Outlook occurs only in Microsoft's email services. For now, the only way I've found to open just one link is to click with the middle button of the mouse. I also have a Gmail email open within my Outlook, and in this case, the problem does not occur; the links open correctly.

    Workaround for outlook.office.com:

Disable Pop-ups for 'outlook.microsoft.com' in your browser.

Tested it with Chrome and Edge

I'm having this issue from JIRA emails. It seemed to only start happening in the past week. I'm using new Outlook and Edge browser.
