Outlook (new) opens 2 (two) tabs from email links from Indeed and LinkedIn. Old outlook is not affected, nor is Outlook 365. Same issue, different browsers....

For several months now, when I click on links in emails from LinkedIn or Indeed, Outlook (new) opens two (2) tabs for the same link. Every time.

It does not do this if I switch back to the (Old) Outlook.

It does not do this if I open the same email/links in my Outlook 365 desktop application.

Since Microsofte embedded "safelinks" scanning, the Outlook (New) app has been a royal pain with links in emails, hiding links from view, and with this additional irritation, it seems that the development team have lost the plot.

My "Default" browser has no bearing on the result., it does it in Chrome or Firefox when set to default.

Switch to the old version of Outlook App, the issue goes away.

Forward an email to my priamary Outlook365 mailboxes... the issue is non existent...

By testing 3 versions of Outook with 3 web browsers, I only get the issue with the New Outlook App,... therefore I can only conclude that Microsoft have fudged this (New Outlook) version up even more.

*Note that for me it is only email links from LinkedIn and Indeed job alert emails and notifications, I have yet to find another platforms emails that are affected.

Are you getting any issues with these?

Lmk here if you find any other major platform emails too,

Ta!

Hi, their developer team are looking into this issue, have uploaded multiple examples including logfiles, so they have plenty to go on now, hopefully they will figure out why this is happening on these specific email links,

You can use RIGHTCLICK on links in the mean time, which opens the/a dialogue box with "Open Link" that does not open two tabs ;-)

I can confirm at least the past few days this problem has started on my (New) Outlook as well. This applies to ALL links, not just Linked In. Clicking all links opens two identical tabs in Edge, Chrome and Firefox. However, clicking a Linked In link seems to open five or six tabs!!

    Workaround for outlook.office.com:

Disable Pop-ups for 'outlook.microsoft.com' in your browser.

Tested it with Chrome and Edge

    Sorry people.

The idiots working at Microsoft close my ticket after weeks of talking to them.

NO FIX, NO REASON, NO RESULT, JUST A CLOSED TICKET.,

    Utter morons.

Sorry to hear this is now affecting others, it was rare when I reported it, now it seems they have pushed the **** error into live production and in one day I get 15 notifications about it....

No longer my issue, Microsoft closed the ticked and you're as stuffed as I was.
