Why can't I open attachments in the new version of Outlook?

I get this error message when trying to open any type of attachment from the desktop version of the new Outlook.

"Error occurred while opening the file. Please try again".

Hello,

I also had the problem and digged in a bit deeper using sysinternals Process Monitor to see what exactly fails, when the system tries to download the file in the temporary outlook folder. There I figured out that my problem was a somehow missing Attachments folder!

Please press WIN-R and type %userprofile%\appdata\local\microsoft\olk and press Enter.
Then an explorer windows opens. Check if you can see an Attachments folder. If not create one and problem might be solved for you.

    I think its fixxed now!!

    Since the last windows update, everything is working as it should. The user who had problems with us can now open the attachments from the new Outlook again.

    Here is the Windows KB Numbers:

    No I haven't. I've tried everything on here so far, including removing the profile like just recently suggested. Did not work for me.

    I've sent countless feedback submissions and suggestions and have never had a response.

    I do have Edge as my default browser, but it hasn't changed anything.

    And yes, the new Outlook has so many flaws and bugs that I can't believe it was ever released.

    There are some things I like, but like I said, I've sent SO much feedback to them.

    I have always supported and defended Microsoft over Apple, but Apple is so smooth and bug-free.

    Microsoft is always releasing everything loaded with bugs.

    Hmm didn't seem to work for me.

    Removed profile and readded and still does not open attachments.

    Mine was set to Microsoft Edge and then I changed it to the 'Default browser' option as suggested above. After restarting the new Outlook application, I am still facing this issue.
