Import a pst file into new outlook

The version does not allow going into Classic mode. Hence no access to Files etc. That just does not show up

has anyone received a response that works? i need to import my long history of old emails in pst files. this is for legal reasons. how can i read my pst files

It boggles my mind that Microsoft would develop a new version of Outlook without incorporating the importing of Data files from the previous versions. I've used Outlook for many years for personal and work use. I've accumulated years of emails in both situations and now Microsoft says sorry we didn't incorporate a method to migrate those files going forward?! Since the response doesn't even hint they are working on it suggests they are letting it fall to the wayside. The largest software company in the world and they don't have a path forward for all that accumulated data?! I would really like to hear their explanation as to why they didn't incorporate it from the beginning. Probably some ingenious scheme to get money from its customers. Grrr!!

It sounds like you’re using the new Outlook for Windows, which currently doesn’t support direct import of PST files. However, you can switch to the classic Outlook to import your PST file and then switch back to the new Outlook. Here’s how you can do it:

Switch to Classic Outlook:

• Open Outlook.
• Click on the toggle switch at the top right corner to switch to the classic version.

Import the PST File:

• In the classic Outlook, go to File > Open & Export > Import/Export.
• Select Import from another program or file and click Next.
• Choose Outlook Data File (.pst) and click Next.
• Browse to the location of your PST file, select it, and choose how you want to handle duplicates.
• Click Next, then Finish.

Switch Back to New Outlook:

• Once the import is complete, you can switch back to the new Outlook using the same toggle switch.

After thorough research and consultations, it has been concluded that the feature you are inquiring about is not yet available in the new Outlook. However, thank you so much for bringing this to our attention, your suggestion is constructive and I believe it could make the use of Outlook even better. We will surely raise your concerns with our Product Development Team and hopefully, this can be included in future updates. Please note new Outlook is still in active development, right now fourteen features are in development and seven more have started to be rolled out.
