Import a pst file into new outlook

Before I can switch to the New Outlook, I also need my Archive PST files imported. Therefore im jumping into this thread in order to get notifications as updates happen, hopfully this PST import feature soon.

Got Outlook Classic, there is no "File", so no import etc.

Simple question.

Now that Outlook 2007 will not work, ie, can't add a user either Hotmail or Gmail, and as I had a POP account, all my files and folders are in a local PST file. All I want is to use Outlook and to import this PST file into it and then use IMAP going forward.

If this is not possible, what do you recommend so I have an app that works with Gmail and all my existing folders etc.

There is no " go to Classic Outlook" to be seen in Help or at the Top Right.

What am I missing here.

The Switch to Classic button is only present if you have Microsoft 365 Outlook Classic installed, otherwise, if you just have the New Outlook that ships with W11, you will not see the button. also, It is only Oneway from new to classic - you must relaunch new if you want to use it while also using classic for testing etc.

To update my earlier post on my own testing of Outlook New and Classic vs Outlook 2013, I switched all of my accounts in New from Pop to IMAP and left my primary account in Classic with a Pop due to my existing PST file and switched the other accounts to IMAP since I did not need to store them locally and everything is working fine.

One thing I did notice is how the Classic, New and Web are able to deal with my non-microsoft hosted domain and email - Classic is storing everything locally in a PST, so I have email, Calendars, Notes - the full Outlook pkg, while the New can access the email, it cannot access the calendar since it is stored locally in a PST? (even though I am using the same PC to run all three at the same time) And Web cannot access the email from the 3rd-party hosted mailbox but does somehow manage to access the Calendar from my Classic Outlook, possibly because I am logging in to my PC, Edge and Classic with the same microsoft account. Interestingly, Outlook 2013 is still there, and I can launch it and access the data files, but I can't send or receive, just view. My next step is to remove the 365 trial and return to Outlook 2013 for the time being, as I don't have the $99 to spare for the 365 Family package with the Holidays coming up...

PST file with password... try using the Mail app in Control Panel to add a new data file and select the pst in question. Also, chk if ScanPST.exe is in Program files\Microsoft\Microsoft Office\Office15 which can usually clean-up pst files. may need to run scanpst.exe from that folder unless you can sort-out which dll's etc it requires and copy the pst to a folder off the root, so you can find it easily in the utility. There should be some articles on Microsoft.com. Also, the SARA Utility might be able to determine the issue. You can search for that on Microsoft.com, too. Just be sure to save multiple copies of the pst before trying anything, even trying to add it to your Office mail profile in control panel.

There may be some 3rd party utilities that can break the pst password lock, check with Corbettsoftware.com, they might have something.

My hunch is that since you do not think you actually had the file password protected, then there may be some corruption in the file that Outlook is finding and giving up too quickly. Also, make sure you get Outlook working with a new empty pst file first, then try to add the old pst as a 2nd data file.
