Why is Outlook sending meeting updates to all attendees instead of only those added or deleted?

Hello,

I am using Outlook client 1.2024.605.100 with M365. I understand that Microsoft has taken away the user option to send updates to all meeting participants or only those added to or deleted from the list instead of letting the organizer make the decision. The problem is that meeting updates ALWAYS go to ALL participants even though I may have added or deleted just one or two people. Server-side logic is only helpful if it actually works, and I see no evidence that this is the case.

Situation: I add or delete one or two people to a meeting MAKING NO OTHER CHANGES to the invitation. Everyone already on the list receives the invitation again.

Sending a meeting update to 40 people who have already responded just because I have added or deleted one person is NOT helpful. I can find no way to control this unwanted behavior. Please explain how to resolve this issue or how Microsoft plans to resolve it. I have submitted feedback previously, but with no apparent result.

    Hello Neil,

    I can confirm that I am now receiving the option to send only to added or deleted attendees. Thanks and thanks some more for giving me this control once again! I have a constant battle with Microsoft apps that try to make my decisions for me. I am truly grateful that this battle is over---at least until someone gets the idea to change it again.

    Microsoft, as a general rule, please STOP before you fix things some more :-)

    Deleting and recreating the meeting is not a solution at all. You're suggesting we do exactly what we're trying to avoid and making it worse! We don't want any new emails sent to attendees who already accepted/declined, and you're telling us to send two emails instead of one. How is it a solution or work-around to create even MORE emails? Please give the option to only send to new or deleted attendees!!!!!!

    Hi Sam. Please can you confirm if you are getting the option to send to only those added or deleted and Outlook is ignoring this or are you not getting the option at all? My scenario is the first one, i get the prompt but the updates still go to everyone.

    I agreed - this is a nightmare for large events where participants are added and removed daily, so many emails are going out to people who don't need them! Weirdly when they get so many they tend to think it has been cancelled.
