Mac Mail says unable to verify account name or password

Hi!

For a few weeks, I've been getting "enter password for hotmail" notification on my Mac. When I enter it, it says "Unable to verify account name or password". I've tried with POP, IMAP, Exchange... still have the same problem. I have another account on Mac Mail (not Outlook account) and works perfectly so I presume it's not coming from Mac but rather from Outlook.

Can someone help me please?

    I am also having the same problem and have been through this several times - currently I cannot put my account online - I have deleted the account and tried to reinstall it - nothing works!

    When will this be fixed, please

    Update - so I just tried changing the IMAP server (incoming server) and set as in this page;

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/pop-imap-and-smtp-settings-for-outlook-com-d088b986-291d-42b8-9564-9c414e2aa040

    That is I changed server details from imap-mail.outlook.com to outlook.office365.com

    It then started to authenticate again having been refusing.

    I will see how it goes

    Hi Mandy Meaden,

    No solution. It still doesn't work. I ended up creating a Gmail account (which works perfectly in Mac Mail). In Outlook options I asked to redirect emails to my Gmail (to receive them in Mac Mail). So now in Mac Mail I receive mails from both Outlook and Gmail and if I want to send a mail in Mac Mail, I can do it using the gmail. Good luck!

    Hi! I know all these settings. I've tried them all. None of them work (it works a few hours or a few days then it stops working).
