Mac Mail says unable to verify account name or password

Works just fine!
I now just forward my hotmail emails to my mac email using the forwarder in Outlook and they arrive in my Mac Mail.

I get my hotmail emails on my Android phone.
My desktop is an iMac and I choose to use Mac Mail as my mail client.

I tried adding an exchange account (to add hotmail), but it won't work.

For ease of work I'd like to continue with what has worked in the past.

Hopefully a solution will be found.

Exchange sucks. I used gmail for my business for over 10 yrs; not one problem. I used Exchange in a 2nd business and now, in 2 years, some 15 issues. Don't bother with exchange.

Since switching to the Exchange option when setting up the account again it has been okay for me - now three days and no further problems. I will keep checking it. If I used the old setup/authentication it would have stopped working again by now.

Might be worth others trying - delete the account and reestablish it using the Exchange option

I know some people are concerned they will loose folders/data but for me no such problem.

Hi! I don't think they will fix it. Did you receive a mail from Outlook called "Action needed: You may no longer be able to access some of your third-party email and calendar apps"? I received this mail in july 2024 (see below). All other accounts work fine on mac mail (gmail, infomaniak...). The only account that isn't working is Outlook (does Outlook force us to use its own applications?). For my part, I gave up. You can create a Gmail account (or other). You transfer emails from Outlook to Gmail (and from Gmail to Mac Mail by setting up Gmail in Mac Mail). In Mac Mail, you will receive Outlook emails (as if you were still connected to Outlook). When you send an email, however, it will be with your gmail address. This solution is far from perfect but personally it ok for me.
