Hovering over a hyperlink in the "new" outlook doesn't display the actual URL. How can this be remedied.

That's a good observation Jérôme! Agreed, this needs to get fixed.

Absolutely unreal how Microsoft hasnt corrected this already... they are asleep at the wheel. Do they even use their own products or are they all using Apple?

Dear microsoft. This is a REALLY serious security issue.

Needless to say, it takes massive effort to educate users (especially non-IT users) to establish a habbit of inspecting a URL before they click on it.

And now you remove the ability to quickly and reliably display it? Do you know how big damage this will cause? How much effort it will take to encourage good security habbits again?

And for the ones who understand the risks. How on Earth would we click on any link without being able to see its url?

Seriously. WOULD YOU CLICK ON IT?

Or you expect people to constantly copy --> open a text editor --> paste?

Get your act together please and fix this a.s.a.p!

I love how Microsoft is so obtuse on this issue, we NEED a hover over link option in new outlook, that or our org will have to find a new email client. There has been hours of security awareness training that will go to waste as users are trained to use this feature to thwart an incident. This is completely irresponsible for Microsoft to knowingly remove a key feature in defending against cyber threats

as a cyber security engineer you are deliberately creating a huge security risk by ignoring this issue. Stop it, stop playing games and enable this feature immediately. I use defender 365 for incidents, I can tell you the AI is great, however its not perfect, you need to allow users the ability to review a link and make the determination if its safe or not, its an extra layer of security...relying on AI to give you the thumbs up on an email and say its secure is not only irresponsible and arrogant but it puts microsoft at tremendious liability. lets say they let you know the link is safe, but ends up being an email sent by a bad actor, the user engages the link and lets say in this situation there is data exfiltration and ransomware. upon investigating its determined Microsoft gave it a safe link notice....you guys would be liable. just insane to me

ISSUE

When you hover over a hyperlink in an email message, the embedded URL may not be displayed in a pop-up tooltip, while in some other cases it may work as expected.

STATUS: INVESTIGATING

The Outlook Team is investigating this issue for a fix. We will update this article when we know more about fix status.

WORKAROUND

You may switch back to classic Outlook for Windows (by turning off the ‘New Outlook’ switch near top right-hand corner) or use OWA (Outlook on the web) to access such emails, as it always displays embedded URL in a pop-up at the bottom left-hand corner of browser window (or ‘status bar’ at the bottom of a browser).

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

This issue may occur for a regular URL, like http://www.microsoft.com or a URL embedded within text, like ‘link’ with embedded URL pointing to: http://www.microsoft.com.
