How To Stop The New Outlook From Automatically Installing

I need help please to stop the new outlook from automatically installing and replacing my windows and calendar app. I have uninstalled the new Outlook 4 times today. Every time I launch the old mail and Calendar app the new outlook automatically installs without my permission. It stops me from using the old app. This is very annoying. I don't want the new app. Is there any way to stop this from happening? Your advice would be appreciated.

Kind regards

Chris

What worked for me was deleting the new Outlook's executable ("olk.exe") from "C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\Microsoft.OutlookForWindows".

Once it's gone, it can't forcibly launch anymore when you open Windows Mail.

You first need to take ownership of the "WindowsApps" folder, then after deleting/renaming the .exe, restore the ownership back to "TrustedInstaller" (to prevent any potential issue down the line).

    I found this article https://www.xda-developers.com/this-trick-frees-your-windows-pc-from-new-outlook/

in it they mention a bat script that you can find in this github https://github.com/matej137/OutlookRemover

What the script does is to uninstall Outlook new if found and install a dummy, an entry in the app list with exactly the same name so that, the real Outlook new can't install itself on top.

I'm trying it comparing it to other computer without it and in the computer with the dummy it not longer installs whereas in the other keeps happening..

The script is open and you can study what it does.

    I hope it helps

Microsoft doesn't give a cr@p about what any of us want and complaining here wont be heard by anyone that really matters at MS.

That's why I can tell you my work around and not fear that MS will shut it down. But if they do, then we'll know they're listening but they just don't give a f&^k.

Once you get the Mail app up by deleting Outlook (new) then quickly opening Mail, leave it running. Do not close it. Outlook (new) will reinstall but it will not replace Mail if it's left open. Don't turn off your computer either, just put it to sleep.

    Thanks MS. You su8k!

Agree with your thoughts about MS. I delete the outlook and get my old mail back. My problem is MS is trying to force me to use outlook and my computer is windows 10. Outlook will not run on it. I get notice to update my software only to be told Windows 11 won't run on the computer. I don't want to load ANYTHING to their cloud. The government spies on us too much already. MS forces you to use the cloud. What is this cloud. The new NSA spy tool? MS could stop this if they wanted. They don't care about the customers. If I could find something else to us I'd drop MS in a second. What an arrogant company

I love you man, really, thank you so much.

It's ass that they won't let you make a proper choice, and instead force it upon you to change to this **** app that is "New Outlook".

"New", that's for sure, it's so freaking new that nothing's there yet.

    Anyway thanks again.

Many thanks Dominick. Your script almost works perfectly for me:

    1. When Mail is open, I get the 'try the new MS Outlook' message, then click dismiss.
    2. The new Outlook appears on the Taskbar, but your script kills it. (Hurrah!)
    3. I close Mail, and its icon is deleted from the Taskbar.
    4. I manually re-pin Mail to the Taskbar.

Is it possible, with your script, to stop Mail from being deleted from the Taskbar please?

    Kind regards,

    Jason
