How To Stop The New Outlook From Automatically Installing

I need help please to stop the new outlook from automatically installing and replacing my windows and calendar app. I have uninstalled the new Outlook 4 times today. Every time I launch the old mail and Calendar app the new outlook automatically installs without my permission. It stops me from using the old app. This is very annoying. I don't want the new app. Is there any way to stop this from happening? Your advice would be appreciated.

What worked for me was deleting the new Outlook's executable ("olk.exe") from "C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\Microsoft.OutlookForWindows".

Once it's gone, it can't forcibly launch anymore when you open Windows Mail.

You first need to take ownership of the "WindowsApps" folder, then after deleting/renaming the .exe, restore the ownership back to "TrustedInstaller" (to prevent any potential issue down the line).

    This does work!

    Just 2 steps.

    1. C:\Users[Your computer's username]\AppData\Local\Packages\microsoft.windowscommunicationsapps_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState\Migration\settings.json

    You just need to delete the settings.json file, and you will be able to open Mail directly.

    1. then add this additional step

    Users/(you)/AppData/Local/Microsoft/Outlook/NewOutlookMigration/

    Then lock down the 'Migration' folder as follows:

    change the security write permission of the folder Migration to deny after deleting the settings.json file.

    Right-click on the Migration folder, go to Properties, and under the Security tab.

    Click Edit, select the current Windows name, check the Write permission as Deny, and apply.

    However.. while this is a working solution, I have completely lost all respect and faith in microsoft and have decided instead to switch my email server to Mailbird.

    Although I guess you must've missed the 2nd link I posted in my original response, as it gave detailed instructions on how to restore ownership to the "TrustedInstaller" (which are the identical steps to changing the ownership to your username). Could have saved yourself some time :D

    I rather start using another browser and mail service than this stupid new Microsoft Mali. Let them shove it up those created it.

    look at my fix.. 2 replies above your message.It really does work.. I applied it successfully to 3 computers... but I agree with you... they can shove their **** software where the sun dont shine'. Mark
