How To Stop The New Outlook From Automatically Installing

I need help please to stop the new outlook from automatically installing and replacing my windows and calendar app. I have uninstalled the new Outlook 4 times today. Every time I launch the old mail and Calendar app the new outlook automatically installs without my permission. It stops me from using the old app. This is very annoying. I don't want the new app. Is there any way to stop this from happening? Your advice would be appreciated.

What worked for me was deleting the new Outlook's executable ("olk.exe") from "C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\Microsoft.OutlookForWindows".

Once it's gone, it can't forcibly launch anymore when you open Windows Mail.

You first need to take ownership of the "WindowsApps" folder, then after deleting/renaming the .exe, restore the ownership back to "TrustedInstaller" (to prevent any potential issue down the line).

    Hi Chris thank you for your reply.

    Yes I was quite shocked to see that pop up when opening outlook. I have spent a couple of days searching the net for decent alternatives, but nothing is the remotely like 'Mail and Calendar' . I did try changing the name to 'Old_olk.exe' but it just messed up outlook all together, so looks as though Microsoft have won!

    I forgot I had a paid version of Outlook 2013 so tried that but ended up not working! So that was money down the drain. Really annoyed with Microsoft, they should have at least given a choice to members to continue on the old one without having to use the new Outlook... at the end of the day all Microsoft want is MONEY MONEY MONEY.

    This is another example of how some programmer or IT person has chosen to dictate to the customer what they can and cannot do. It would’ve been so simple for Microsoft to simply put a button to click that says no thank you don’t ask again. What did their programmers do they force you to stop using something that you liked. Happiest day of my life was after I was promoted to upper management in a fortune 500 company and was over the IT security department. The first thing I did was fire the Director of that department because he would never work with his customers. The employees. This is the typical mentality these IT people have that they control everything and they can bring a company to a standstill.

    I wasnt able to rename it even if run cmd as Trusted Installer, but i was able to delete it. Thanks!

    It's good that you have deleted "olk.exe" As an extra step, you can log in as administrator and make a new empty text document on your desktop. Rename it to olk.exe and copy it back to the same folder.

    When the pop up below appears with the ultimatum, click on "open Outlook"., hopefully, the new Outlook won't be able to launch and you should be able to continue to use the old Mail app (at least until the next windows update). This is what I have been doing.

    Outlook just took over my att mail. Wow, way invasive. And I was writing an email!!!
