How To Stop The New Outlook From Automatically Installing

I need help please to stop the new outlook from automatically installing and replacing my windows and calendar app. I have uninstalled the new Outlook 4 times today. Every time I launch the old mail and Calendar app the new outlook automatically installs without my permission. It stops me from using the old app. This is very annoying. I don't want the new app. Is there any way to stop this from happening? Your advice would be appreciated.

What worked for me was deleting the new Outlook's executable ("olk.exe") from "C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\Microsoft.OutlookForWindows".

Once it's gone, it can't forcibly launch anymore when you open Windows Mail.

You first need to take ownership of the "WindowsApps" folder, then after deleting/renaming the .exe, restore the ownership back to "TrustedInstaller" (to prevent any potential issue down the line).

    You could try (I do) using iobit to uninstall outlook and then just click on mail, it buys you a week or so.

    I notice that the outlook message now says that mail 'will no longer be supported' after some date. I wonder if they will at least leave us that.

    They don't reply because they don't care. I wish someone would come out with an alternative to MS. Maybe if people quit their software they would do things correctly the first time or at least listen to their CUSTONERS who pay their salaries. This could be EASILY fixed with a don't install don't ask again button to click out of this nightmare. Obviously no one in management at MS give a darn about the customers.

    RachL2, I hope you manage to find a solution that works for you. In this thread there were several possible solutions mentioned. Please see my post dated November 6 for a summary. The solutions work! Now, we can use the old mail app without interference from the "New Outlook".

    I mentioned the "Outlook remover method" that uses a batch file my reply to Charles as it's perhaps the simplest method.
