I have the same issues. I deleted my Hotmail.com account and used Outlook.com
My mailboxes came over from Hotmail but nothing is in them, not all of my emails are there either.
But I can get to them using my laptop through the web browser. I use my iPhone and iPad a lot and keep a lot of pertinent information in my mailboxes for references. So having them empty, I’ll have to go through the web browser and resend all of those emails that I kept for reference to get them added to my mailboxes on phone and iPad.
