My Hotmail e-mails were working just fine on my iPhone MAIL app then suddenly stopped. I have deleted my Hotmail account and tried to put it back on the iPhone by going to SETTINGS, MAIL, ADD ACCOUNT. I have selected OUTLOOK.COM and tried adding it and cannot get pass this error message. I have tried selecting OTHER and typing in my Hotmail address and password and it just keeps coming back to the selection screen with AOL, GOOGLE, YAHOO, OUTLOOK.COM, and OTHER.

I have tried turning the phone off in hopes if something needed to be reset it would do it when I turned it back on, but that hasn't worked either.

So at this point, I cannot get any e-mails on my iPhone. Any suggestions or help anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you so much for your answer, I was looking for information as I was having the same issue. This helped me to add my hotmail account to a new device by doing what you said. Unfortunately I'm not able to recover my account on my old computer due to not have the OUTLOOK option. :)
