- Considerations for Importing:
- Keep in mind that importing a large amount of data (such as 4.5GB of emails) into your Outlook mailbox may impact performance, especially if your mailbox size reaches or exceeds the storage limits set by your email provider or your Admin.
- Backup and Archiving:
- As you make changes to your email management strategy, ensure that you have adequate backup and archiving procedures in place to safeguard your important email data. Regularly back up your Outlook mailbox to prevent data loss.
.pst files are the way to offload email provider storage limitations. I have years of .pst files and if they are imported to my email provider as suggested would most definitely exceed the storage limitations. .pst files are the only way too offload the storage requirements because the .pst files are on the storage devices I purchased and managed. I have no limitations on the size.
As is the usual stance with Microsoft, this is a move to, once again, make users less productive and create a money grab for Microsoft for those who will run out of email space and either have to lose their email or have to pay monthly and yearly fees for cloud storage that was never required with .pst files.
Put .pst files back to what they were - stored and accessed offline as opposed to forcing users to exceed email provider storage limitations.
