Not sure how this happened but the new outlook is easily the worst piece of software I have ever seen. That takes into account MS-Dos and Win 95 disasters.

No clue why on earth they would force this garbage on us, when most of us used to say how great outlook was......

I MUST get back to classic now and how can I do it as it dropped all my other email accounts and created armageddon

NEED answers now

Thanks you

It's February 2025 and after clean installing windows on my new motherboard the office 365 installer forced new outlook on me and will not revert to the classic view no matter what I do. MS deliberately did not include the old outlook.exe so when I turn off the new outlook button it just reboots itself right back into new outlook.

I hate new outlook, its so metro and I don't want it anywhere near any of my pc's. At least my laptops still have classic on them but I could hit the idiot who forced this upon us with a #10 cast iron skillet right across the top of the head for this.

Edit: I went back and checked my old installers and thank the stars I found a 2023 version that did install classic outlook so I'm back to the old version. 😍

Agree that the latest Outlook update is a disaster. I was fortunate when going through the process of installing it and ran into problems that I aborted the process and did a bit of research. That's when I learned that the new Outlook is not yet compatible with a POP3 account, although there is no mention of it in the installation process. At that point the Outlook Classic was still on my computers, but no longer the default email program. At that point i was able to uninstall the New Outlook and revert to Classic.

I am probably a bit of a Luddite, but I want my emails on my own system and not on some distant corporate server. I'll deal with synchronizing my various computers and devices.

MS is becoming more intrusive in forcing people to adopt a subscription model. The last update completely scrambled how File Explorer appears on one of my desktops, requiring about a half hour to get it back to where it was usable again. At present I'm struggling to keep an older laptop and desktop, that are working fine now, to work until I'll probably have to replace them next October when Win 10 Pro security support ends.

At that point I'll wonder if there will even be a standalone Office program or just a subscription model.

From my computer, after I gave in to endless nags and tried New outlook, Microsoft have removed the classic outlook that I had paid for as part of office suite 2019. The new outlook refuses to show sent items folder, and none of the microsoft help suggestions get it back agian.

With Office 2024 and Window 11 24H2. No Outlook Classic listed.

Fix: Open System Settings. Goto Accounts. Goto Email & Accounts. Click Add Account and add in an exchange account.

At this point, you will see Outlook (classic) on the All Apps list. Click it and configure a profile in Outlook.

Crazy part - You can now go back and delete that account you manually created. The classic will remain and will also be available when logging on with other users/profiles.

Of note - Under HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0, you will find Outlook Key folder. Same for HKLM.

Reason for this roundabout fix is that Outlook New does not support On-Prem Exchange. Also, the old Control Panel 'Mail' no longer exists to create the user profile.

EDIT: They've patched out the fix I'd found. If you go to @2Learn4Fun on the fourth tab of this thread, the link to D/L Outlook Classic (inlcuded here) does still work. You need to scroll down to the 'Install Classic' section and click on the download button. The install from store might or might not work. The reviews are questionable.
