Email from Microsoft titled "Action Needed – You may lose access to some of your third-party mail and calendar apps" Is this a scam?

I'm 73 years old, if that's any consolation... What email clients do you have and use? Please list ALL of them, what version they are, what platform they are installed on, and what protocol (POP, IMAP, or Exchange Server) each uses so we can tell you which ones will work without any changes, which ones will need attention, and what specific attention each of these will need. Thanks!!

Stan433 just told us pretty clearly that he does not understand all the technology and tech lingo, and then you ask what "clients" does he use and "platforms" and "protocols" (POP, IMAP, Exchange).

You're very kind to try to help, and very knowledgeable, but I think you may have missed the mark on this one.

I have never owned a Mac device. I'm not 100% sure but as far as I understand, Mac Mail (built-in app) connects through POP/IMAP. Microsoft is removing POP/IMAP access to their mail servers so I'm guessing your Mac Mail can no longer connect to it after Sep 2024. Of course I could be entirely wrong about Mac Mail capability.

The apple mail on my iphone is fine.

But the apple mail on my macbook pro is not. When I tried to remove the accounts and re-add them, there is no option for "outlook.com" in the menu. So, how do I fix it?

I don't have kids either but I don't live in a jungle where my neighbors are only animals. There are other people (a.k.a friends). I'm just presenting the options to you end users but if you insist on having one and only solution (Microsoft free help), I have no more suggestions. Good luck.

The choice is yours, really. If you refuse to read and try to learn something new, asking someone for help would be the right solution. It doesn't have to be a paid service (hiring a tech professional). It can be your children, grand children or other family members who understand technology.

Many people don't have "children, grandchildren or other family members" - especially seniors.

You're just assuming everybody has kids. They don't.

Since Microsoft is the one forcing this change on everyone, it should be the one with a toll-free "Help" number with staff to assist people.
