New Report button in Outlook 2407 - How do i remove it?

Hi There,

We currently use a third-party phishing and spam report add-on in Outlook. Previously we used the Report Message add-in but soon removed this just so we would have one means of reporting emails.

This has been working for us fine but I have noticed that on the current Channel there is another "Report" button on the Home tab. I can't see any information on this in the release notes and nothing in the Microsoft Admin Centre that can remove this tenant-wide. The only way I can remove it is manually removing it from the Ribbon, which isn't feasible for 200+ devices.

Can anyone assist in how I can remove this for all devices?

    Since the new Report button is the long-term solution for M365 it would be best to keep it. The platforms it supports are documented here, Report phishing and suspicious emails in Outlook for admins - Microsoft Defender for Office 365 | Microsoft Learn.

    If the Report button addresses your needs, you can remove the Report Message and Report Phishing add-ins from the Admin Portal, Deploy add-ins in the admin center - Microsoft 365 admin | Microsoft Learn. You can test making the change on one or a couple users and make sure everything works the way you expect before removing those for everyone.

    Are admins able to remove the "report" button from Outlook clients? We only want 1 button, and do not want to confuse our staff or waste time on this kind of thing.

    Good update. Would love a rough estimate on Shared Mailbox support for the built-in button.

    This built in button just started landing in our tenant now (with v2409 on the Monthly Enterprise Channel). So now we have 3 buttons... fun conversations with clients incoming!

    Looking forward to getting down to just the built in one, we'll remove the 'Report Message' one when most installs are updated to 2409 and remove our 3rd party home brew one once we've an option for on-prem / shared mailboxes...

    This is ridiculous that customers using Microsoft own tools for e-mail reporting have to deal w/ 2 different reporting buttons in their Outlook clients.

    I swear MS has no concept of customer impact at all. Allowing us to pick one or the other should be a no brainer.

    I just checked on the fix rollout and it is currently being deployed through the pre-production rings. It has not started going to production yet, but it should be soon. The fix will be in service build 15.20.8115.000. You can check this with the classic Outlook Connection Status Dialog. In the Windows System Tray locate the Outlook icon. Press Ctrl key, right click on the Outlook icon and click Connection Status. The next to last column shows Version. I will get the Known Issue updated with this status shortly, Classic Outlook Report button not removed after setting “Use a non-Microsoft add-in button” - Microsoft Support.
