I have received similar mail yesterday.
I have enabled 2-step verification a year back(or may be couple of years back), but I'm shocked see "sign-in activity log". Every hour there is a "unsuccessfull sign-in" login activity.
Do I need to do any other security measure(s) to keep my account safe and secure?
I received the same email today in my junk folder.
I assumed it was a scam and deleted it without opening.
The point is, it's not your account. it's just a spam email that mimics your email automatically. They're sending those automatically to thousands of email addresses, hoping that someone will fall for the blackmail.
Just delete the email they sent you and move on.
hi, what i did is report the email as a phishing email. does it affect anything if i do that? plus i received the email in my inbox instead in my junk email.
I got the same email today. Was a little worried until I saw ‘highly controversial porn sites’ as I know I haven’t been and don’t go to those.
I quickly looked it up and found this thread. One thing I noticed was while they mimic your address so it appears they logged into your account, there was no corresponding email in the sent or deleted folder. I highly doubt if they were trying to convince me they hacked my account they would permanently delete the proof that they are real.
The sending email is the exact same as my email, I even replied to the email as a test and it came straight into my inbox?
I have checked to see the sign in section and there is many but all unsuccessful.
Have now added Microsoft Authenticator to my account.
Any other steps I can do?
