Outlook app currently non-functional on Samsung Watch 7, Ultra, 6, 5, etc.

EDIT: September 13, 2024:

As of Outlook version 4.2435.1 Outlook is working again on my watch for both email and calendar events. I had to wait a little bit after I installed this new version before calendar events started sinking, but everything does work now.

Original message:

When I launch the Outlook app on my Watch Ultra I get the error in below:

"Add an account on mobile to use the app"

I am running the Outlook app on my phone (S21) and have multiple accounts (Hotmail and Gmail) set up in the Outlook app.

The app refuses to open normally and function. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the app on my watch. I've installed the app on the watch from the Play Store on my phone, and from the Play Store on the watch.

No change.

When I set up my Galaxy Watch Ultra I did not do a restore from my previous Galaxy watch, and I also cleared cache on the watch after setup, so the watch is as fresh as can be. The watch is up-to-date w/the most recent FW from Samsung, ver AXG2.

Please release an updated version of the Outlook app for Android watches that fixes this problem. Currently the Outlook Android watch app is unusable.

I came across this post and realized I was facing a similar issue. I have the watch 7 and despite having the 4.235.1 upgrade, it wasn't working for me until I checked the wear app. Under watch settings > apps > Outlook, I found that 'Allow background activity' was disabled. Once I enabled it, everything started working fine. It does warn about increased battery usage, but that's a trade-off I'm okay with.

By the way I am talking about the outlook widget not the face watch, for some reason it has disappeared from the watch 7 models.

I confirm this is true, no watch face for my galaxy watch ultra. The calendar and inbox work fine within the app on the watch, but, as I said, sadly no watch face.
