Outlook app currently non-functional on Samsung Watch 7, Ultra, 6, 5, etc.

EDIT: September 13, 2024:

As of Outlook version 4.2435.1 Outlook is working again on my watch for both email and calendar events. I had to wait a little bit after I installed this new version before calendar events started sinking, but everything does work now.

Original message:

When I launch the Outlook app on my Watch Ultra I get the error in below:

"Add an account on mobile to use the app"

I am running the Outlook app on my phone (S21) and have multiple accounts (Hotmail and Gmail) set up in the Outlook app.

The app refuses to open normally and function. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the app on my watch. I've installed the app on the watch from the Play Store on my phone, and from the Play Store on the watch.

No change.

When I set up my Galaxy Watch Ultra I did not do a restore from my previous Galaxy watch, and I also cleared cache on the watch after setup, so the watch is as fresh as can be. The watch is up-to-date w/the most recent FW from Samsung, ver AXG2.

Please release an updated version of the Outlook app for Android watches that fixes this problem. Currently the Outlook Android watch app is unusable.

The reason installing from the Samsung store may have helped is that the problem began in a somewhat recent release of Outlook from a few months ago. Samsung store version is old enough that it doesn't have that problem.

The current version of the Outlook app in the Samsung store is from June 2024, version 4.2422.0. It will not have any of the security updates and other fixes that may have been added to the Outlook app since then. I would not run an older version of the app if it is not necessary. Just not worth the risk, and is not necessary, as the current release from the Google Play store works fine.

The current version of the app in the Google Play store is 4.2435.1, and using that version both email and calendar sync are working on the watch. Strongly suggest everyone get the play store version and not use old versions of the app from the Samsung store.

Ok..I gave up waiting for the play store and updated to 4.2435.1 from apkmirror.

I can confirm Outlook is now happy again on the watch and doesn't ask me to add an account on the phone.

Annoying that it still hasn't reached the Play Store in your region, but glad you got it going via APKmirror.

Are you seeing the Outlook watchface? It's supposed to be available when the Outlook app is properly installed, but hasn't shown up on my watch, even w/4.2435.1 version of OUtlook.

Nope, not seeing the watch face watch and also it's stopped updating mails regularly as well. Not had chance to really investigate what's going on with it yet but I will.
