with so many complaints about outlook (new) I think Microsoft should provide a quick fox for people to get rid of it. I never asked for it. When I look at the list of installed apps, outlook new is not there. however, when I initiate an email for a website, outlook new opens. ****?

Microsoft should stop doing this to its users, rather than forcing every end user to learn these complex operations. This is ridiculous. It's the vendor that's responsible, not the users.

This the most ridiculous, convoluted, too many steps answer that could be given. Plus, the answer states, that the codes may not work properly and you have to enter them manually - what a stupid answer!!! Just tell us how to get rid of f___ing Outlook permanently and Microsoft should not be allowed to let it automatically take over your device - let's get some PRIVACY regulations petitions started Microsoft customers.

First of all, please understand that starting from 2024, new Windows 11 devices will come pre installed with new Outlook as the default email application. Reference: Outlook for Windows: The Future of Mail, Calendar, and People on Windows 11 - Microsoft Support

 

Currently, if you wish to continue using Mail and Calendar without automatically redirecting to New Outlook, additional settings are required. Please refer to the following steps:

Note: The highlighted area is the current user name (# comment bar can be deleted)

1.Replace the YOURUSERNAME with actual username of your PC.

2.Select all the codes below and copy them.

3.Open PowerShell with administrator privilege, you can search PowerShell in search bar, right-click it and choose to run with administrator.

4.Once PowerShell is opened, paste the codes into it, and press enter.

 

Define the folder path to operate on

$folderPath = "C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Local\Packages\microsoft.windowscommunicationsapps_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState\Migration"

Define the path of the file to delete

$fileToDelete = "$folderPath\settings.json"

1. Delete the specified file (if it exists)

Add the deny write access rule to the folder's ACL

Apply the modified ACL to the folder

Output the result of the operation

The code performs two actions. You can also perform these actions manually if your code does not perform them correctly.

1. deletes the settings.json file inside C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Local\Packages\microsoft.windowscommunicationsapps_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState\Migration

2. Add a deny write rule to the Migration folder security permissions.

Hello.

First timer here!

I suddenly had problems with Outlook a few days ago in that cant send mail but can recieve it. One of the many things I tried was to toggle on to new Outlook. Hate it! But... I could send emails again. That lead me to think, ah conflict beween new and old.

So uninstalled new. Sadly still cant send emails out and that irritating toggle button is till there. Needless to say, if I toggle on new gets downloadd again.

Can Addie.C suggest how I can ger rid of that toggle button and any other trace of new Outlook gets removed from my laptop.
