Events in New Outlook can not be edited, deleted, or created - events sent by others cannot be accepted.

This problem is solely with the calendar with no other features appearing to be impacted. Whether the event has invited attendees or is solely meant for the personal calendar it will pop up with the same error message of " Something went wrong. We couldn't save your calendar even. Waiting a bit might help. Keep your calendar event open to try again later. Resume editing"

Waiting a bit does not help, nor does trying to resume editing. It's been 2 full straight work days and I keep getting this error when making or editing an event. If I try to delete an event it just reappears a moment later.

I have tried clearing the outlook cache, restarting the computer, going to settings>apps>installed apps>outlook and repairing, resetting, and terminating. Web outlook for the new outlook refuses to synch to the desktop app and so does not work as a workaround.

I did not create this email so I don't have admin abilities to do anything that requires permissions and there is no one in the office with the permissions either. Using classic outlook is also not an option because like I said I don't have admin permissions and its just full of popups if I try to open it.

The only thing that has shown some promise is going to outlook settings>accounts>manage IMAP>remove>remove from this device>uninstalling outlook>redownloading outlook from Microsoft store>logging in with IMAP.

When I do this I am able to edit, delete, create, and invite attendees to events but only for 20 minutes and then the error starts up again and it's just not realistic to go through that entire process EVERY TIME an event needs to be made or edited.

As of 11/13/2024: After more than a week of this issue an update appears to have been released and things seem to be working so far after I did this

On the bottom ribbon of your computer you'll see a magnifying glass and a tab that says search. Click that and type: "Check for Updates"

Which will open the Windows Update page in your settings and the update will likely be there in which case your can click the restart button.

I updated and my Outlook seems to be working as normal again with editing, deleting, and creating events.

    Hello the email I use is in the style of ******@companyname.com and it's all processed through outlook for everyone on the team. I am the one who creates the schedule so I create all the events and so I know I can edit, move, and delete any events. Rarely is an event created by someone else and shared with me and I am very well aware I can not edit or move events created by others - I should be able to delete them but because of this calendar issue I can't delete events created by others or my own.

    As for your remedies:

    "if you're editing your own events, you can check if your calendar is under your own account and tick [My Calendar] to see if there are some calendar categories etc."

    -There are none. My Calendar is the only calendar I have and use.

    Another aspect is that you can check if your calendar event is a regular calendar or a shared calendar?

    -I have not changed the manner I have been making calendar events for the last few months- the problem developed 2 days ago and has persisted. My method is I make the event and on the 'invite attendees' line I send the event to the same 10 people on the team, if that is what you mean by 'shared calendar' shouldn't this problem have occured at some point in the last few months since I've been creating event on the calendar of outlook?

    As for your final suggestion- you mentioned IMAP calendar won't synch to web outlook and since the problem is on the desktop app and NOT the web outlook since the calendar won't synch- how much help can I expect by reaching out to web outlook support when they won't be able to see the problem? The online support page for outlook has thus been unhelpful - I've clicked every post I've seen potentially related and not one suggestion helped, it's the reason I created this post out of desperation because at some point it seems as though the issue is not with the computer, or the user- the issue is with Outlook given that about 2 other people since I've posted this question have reported a similar issue that started around the same time.

    Hi! I came here seeking help for my desktop Calendar issues, and I find that others are experiencing the SAME PROBLEM starting at the SAME TIME: Changes to calendar are rejected with the "something went wrong - try again later" error.

    BTW, changes made to 365 calendar using the mobile app ARE accepted.

    This would seem to be a problem with 365 calendar, and not an issue on my end?

    The steps you outline above do not take me to anything that says Need Help Yet. It simple provides a series of subject links none of which have been useful. Given that, how do I connect with the online support team? This has been going on for several days, and effectively renders the calendar program useless.

    I have had the same frustrating experiences for the last few days, and the steps outlined also do not take me to anything that says Need Help Yet.

    As a work-around, I have begun experimenting with Google Calendar. Google Calendar has much of the same functionality as Outlook Calendar, including scheduling and invitation management. Events created in Google Calendar, as well as related responses and changes, can be viewed in Outlook. Google Calendar also supports integrated conferencing with Google Meet.

    I recognize that this will not be a viable solution for all users, but it may provide a reasonable work-around for some.

    P.S. I can confirm that Google Calendar seems to work well across a variety of devices, including PC's, laptops, ipads, and smartphones
