Events in New Outlook can not be edited, deleted, or created - events sent by others cannot be accepted.

This problem is solely with the calendar with no other features appearing to be impacted. Whether the event has invited attendees or is solely meant for the personal calendar it will pop up with the same error message of " Something went wrong. We couldn't save your calendar even. Waiting a bit might help. Keep your calendar event open to try again later. Resume editing"

Waiting a bit does not help, nor does trying to resume editing. It's been 2 full straight work days and I keep getting this error when making or editing an event. If I try to delete an event it just reappears a moment later.

I have tried clearing the outlook cache, restarting the computer, going to settings>apps>installed apps>outlook and repairing, resetting, and terminating. Web outlook for the new outlook refuses to synch to the desktop app and so does not work as a workaround.

I did not create this email so I don't have admin abilities to do anything that requires permissions and there is no one in the office with the permissions either. Using classic outlook is also not an option because like I said I don't have admin permissions and its just full of popups if I try to open it.

The only thing that has shown some promise is going to outlook settings>accounts>manage IMAP>remove>remove from this device>uninstalling outlook>redownloading outlook from Microsoft store>logging in with IMAP.

When I do this I am able to edit, delete, create, and invite attendees to events but only for 20 minutes and then the error starts up again and it's just not realistic to go through that entire process EVERY TIME an event needs to be made or edited.

As of 11/13/2024: After more than a week of this issue an update appears to have been released and things seem to be working so far after I did this

-->

On the bottom ribbon of your computer you'll see a magnifying glass and a tab that says search. Click that and type: "Check for Updates"

Which will open the Windows Update page in your settings and the update will likely be there in which case your can click the restart button.

I updated and my Outlook seems to be working as normal again with editing, deleting, and creating events.

Hello, I have the same issue that appeared 2-3 days ago. Creating events in the New Outlook was working normally for gmail accounts previously, hence I do not believe it is an IMAP issue. Suddenly, it is not possible to create events directly in the New Outlook, nor edit nor delete previously created events. Error message: "Something went wrong. We could not save your calendar event. Waiting a bit might help. Keep your calendar event open to try again later." But "later never comes.

MSFT Calendar is now pretty much non-usable.

    With best regards,

    Hi,

I have the same error message since yesterday. For a few weeks prior I have had sync issues between my laptop and my phone calendar.

I am trying to create events using the desktop version of outlook which is linked to my google account.

What is the fix for this?

    Thanks

    Hi blancheRV,

Thank you for using Microsoft products and posting in the community.

I realise that you are experiencing a calendar related problem and I will do my best to help you!

May I ask what your email domain is? Is it a Microsoft domain email? Or is it some other third party email address?

Allow me to explain to you that if you are using IMAP protocol then IMAP protocol does not synchronise calendars, which means that if you add a calendar in new outlook then you won't see the calendar event on the web side because it can't be synchronised to the web side.

Before answering your question, I did a test in new outlook, in general, if you yourself as the invitee of the event, then you can edit/delete and so on, if you are the invitee of the event, then after you receive the email of the event invitation, you are able to choose to agree/deny/tentative. But your problem is that you can't perform the appropriate actions whether you are the inviter or the invitee of the event, please point out if I have misunderstood.

My test result is that I can edit my own event and at the same time can accept/decline other people's invitations as the invitee of the event. Although I didn't reproduce your problem, some remedies I can think of for you are: if you're editing your own events, you can check if your calendar is under your own account and tick [My Calendar] to see if there are some calendar categories etc. Another aspect is that you can check if your calendar event is a regular calendar or a shared calendar?

If the problem still exists after you try some methods, I recommend that you look for Outlook support online. You need to click [Help]-[Help] in the taskbar above the web version of Outlook, a help interface with a search box will appear on the right side of the web page, if you see an almost empty interface with a backlink in the middle, click [Help] again. If you see an almost empty interface with a backlink in the middle, click **[**Help] again. You need to type [Events in New Outlook can not be edited, deleted, or created] in the search box and then click Search, once the search is complete, a **[**Need help yet?] Click [Yes] to be redirected to the Outlook online support page, click [Chat with Microsoft Support on the web]. Here you can find Outlook Online Support employees.

Thank you for your patience and support.

I wish you all the best
