Remove NEW Outlook from system and revert to MAIL

Mail was recently updated to Version 16005.14326.22062.0.

Mail will not start up without contortions. New Outlook has taken over. It is wasting too of my much time. My emails are too important to be monkeyed around with by Microsoft. I would like to decide when I want to install New Outlook. I don't want it forced on me.

New Outlook starts everytime Mail is closed. This causes New Outlook to go into a loop that takes several process to get Mail to start running again.

  1. C:\Users[your computer username]\AppData\Local\Packages\microsoft.windowscommunicationsapps_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState\ according to the path. Migration\ settings.json, delete the file settings.json.
  2. Once the json file is deleted. New Outlook starts when Mail is opened. Click the switch to classic. New Outlook closes. Launch Mail and Mail starts running.

It has also lost mail in one of my folders. However GMail has retained the files.

I don't want to run New Outlook at this time. The last time I did this it caused havoc on my email and calender. I also don't like the fact that New Outlook deletes files older than 180 days, this does not work for me.

I tried unistalling New Outlook, but it restores as soon as Mail is Launched.

I just want to run MAIL.

I don't want NEW Outlook.

If nothing can be done, I will start running Thunderbird and eventually stop using all Microsoft products.

I use my windows computer to mainly do emails and surf the web. None of which requires MS Windows. I need my email to be stable and reliable. I don't need cloud storage or Microsoft 365. I am using it for home use. Microsoft should make a Windows version for home use, Don't force me into enterprise versions.

STOP forcing NEW Outlook on me! It is neither stable or reliable!

    I have not spent any time on this.

    But I am hoping someone steps up and tells us.

    If nothing happens soon I will be going over to Thunderbird, the app is keyed up to startup. I don't have the patience for this and too depended on my email to be held hostage by Microsoft while I screw around with their latest shenanigans not allowing me quick access to my emails. I wouldn't be half bad but in order to make New Outlook work I need to setup all my accounts with passwords, by the time I do this I could have missed several important calender entries or emails. The other problem is they dont' allow a quick change back to MAIL.

    If they want to do this they should give me a 10 day deadline to upgrade so it does not interrupt my calendar and emails and I can do it on my time, not some schedule that Microsoft is working on.

    I have already wasted too much time on this BS.

    Hopefully if I delete both MAIL and Outlook, the next Microsoft update doesn't sneak them back on to my system.

    I have decided I am officially DONE with this ****.

    I am changing over to thunderbird for my mail client. Will be converting my PC to Linux soon too. I am on windows 10 so I have ZERO doubt that this is a sign of bigger things to come. It wont be long until one day I turn on my computer to find out that MS has totally destroyed my computer by installing windows 11 without my permission.

    I have decided to be proactive about this and avoid the stress of unexpected breakage. I can make the switch when I know that I have the time to do it so can avoid the dumpster fire coming alight on some critical due date for work.

    I suggest everyone else here who is able to, do the same on their computers before the inevitable mess.

    Congrats Microsoft. You have lost another user. A user you will no longer be able to secretly track, exploit, and sell to 3rd party advertisers. I have had enough.

    I am not sure why you are defending Microsoft. MAIL and Outlook are similar when things are set as default. However there are options that can be configured to allow doing things more efficiently that New Outlook does not have. Many of these options have been around for years. Options that allow more emails to show up in a single page, by configuring columns, this also make sorting many emails very quick.

    Same thing happened (MAIL is no longer pinned to the task bar) when I came back to my computer after several hours. All I want is the right to control my computer. MAIL works and the New OUTLOOK has problems and missing options that MAIL program has, I don't want my email on the cloud. It is already is on the cloud on various accounts I have. (Gmail, Yahoo ect.) I want my email on my computer. What is so hard to understand that this option works best for me. I might as well eliminate using Outlook and just check emails on their site. I am doing this now since New Outlook has been scrabbling my emails.
