I want to try the new Outlook, however it is not showing the old emails.

This stupid bug is going to, if not already, create problems. Not seeing an old email leads me to believe that it is no longer relevant, which is obviously not always the case.

I've tried this, too and it doesn't work for me !
The only way I’ve found so far is to uninstall the new outlook.

You seem to have been able to retrieve your folders/messages (can you tell me how, please ?) but when I added my talktalk account the inbox was empty and none of my personal folders were restored. Also I'm not able to send/receive messages from my account.

how do you check the space available for the mailbox ?
looks like on Mac outlook doesn't offer the setting of duration to keep mails in the inbox
