"Unable to verify account name or password" with hotmail.it account

Hi everyone, I am getting this error message again, "Unable to verify account name or password" from my hotmail.it account on the MacBook. Despite attempting all the solutions suggested by Google/Apple, none seem to resolve the issue. A temporary fix I found was to delete hotmail account from the mail account list, and then re-add it again. This worked for a few weeks, but then the error message resurfaced. Any assistance with this matter would be greatly appreciated. Best Regards, Felicia.

    I am going through the same trauma. all it says "Unable to verify username or password" even though I can login on web browser but not on my mac book mail app. No help from MS . I have literally tried everything from resetting my password, updating software to removing and adding my account back on mac , nothing worked. I am frustrated as you are and will definitely migrate to gmail.

    When u delete then add it as Microsoft exchange outlook/ msn/ hotmail all worked as an exchange account After u do this it takes a while to repopulate on Mac mail app. I’m not sure why Microsoft isn’t more clear on this. Good luck

    Having this issue as well. I deleted and added exchange accounts, but having the issue again. I have two emails and both are having the issue. The passwords work fine if I log in on a web browser. But on Mac Mail it won't accept the passwords at all. Also, deleted the exchange accounts and tried to add back, but it's not accepting my passwords. It will still accept them if I log in on a browser.

    This worked! I added Microsoft exchange and used my hotmail email and I no longer have the "Unable to verify..." message. Thank you
