"Unable to verify account name or password" with hotmail.it account

Hi everyone, I am getting this error message again, "Unable to verify account name or password" from my hotmail.it account on the MacBook. Despite attempting all the solutions suggested by Google/Apple, none seem to resolve the issue. A temporary fix I found was to delete hotmail account from the mail account list, and then re-add it again. This worked for a few weeks, but then the error message resurfaced. Any assistance with this matter would be greatly appreciated. Best Regards, Felicia.

    This worked for me, thanks to the community inputs

    just add a microsoft Exchange account, and enter your hotmail details and password after it downloads all the emails on apple mail

    delete the earlier outlook.live account (hotmail) in your apple mail.

    hope this works!

    this indeed did the trick for me after months of having had issues. On the other hand I dont know what the exact consequence will be: what is the difference between adding an email aacount via the exchange option vs the Other email account option via the Mac-system itself?

    And more importantly: WHY is Apple not providing this option to its users from the start of having this problem? Why having all these steps which dont lead to a solution ?!

    wasted time till now but thanks for the easy solution

    Instead of adding your Hotmail account directly, use the option to add an outlook account.

    Worked for me!
