Hi everyone, I am getting this error message again, "Unable to verify account name or password" from my hotmail.it account on the MacBook. Despite attempting all the solutions suggested by Google/Apple, none seem to resolve the issue. A temporary fix I found was to delete hotmail account from the mail account list, and then re-add it again. This worked for a few weeks, but then the error message resurfaced. I have the same problem, none of the fixes proposed by Microsoft is resolving the issue, the only thing that could resolve the issue is to migrate away from Microsoft e-mail services and use something that works. Nobody will solve this, it's a known problem since ages.

I have the same issue with Outlook for Apple Mail.
It has been happening for probably 5+ years for me on and off. Usually it has resolved itself within 24 hours and after many attempts at just trying to re-sync and enter the password. Sometimes it will say "Unable to verify account name or password" but still syncs ok (probably once in every 20 attempts), not sure why, so i keep trying and hope that it eventually works.
HOWEVER, in the last 2-3 days it hasn't resolved at all and I can't access my hotmail on Apple Mail.

To be honest, it's been on my list to migrate across to Google Mail as it's becoming very frustrating.

I also had this problem. I deleted my hotmail account from Mail and added "Microsoft Exchange" using my hotmail email and password. So far it's working.
I am experiencing the same. There have been no macOS software updates between the time it was working (for years up till now) and the time that it has not been working. I have no issues using the same credentials on the website, on my iPhone and iPad. There must be something wrong with the way the Live server is checking for the credentials.
