Hello,

my name is Igor and I have problem in new outlook app. Im using 3 emails in old app. 1 private and 2 work accounts. Everything is ok. But when i switched to new outlook i cant add second work email. There is error:

"This account is not supported in Outlook for Windows due to the license provided by your work or school. Try to login with another account or go to Outlook on the web"

Why? why it works in old but not in new version ? Its feature or bug ? I want to use app not web, and i need this email not another... I would like to use outlook but this is ridiculous and i consider move to another app...

I FIGURED IT OUT! (May not apply to all)

A client had a Business Standard in their primary tenant and a Business Basic in the one he wanted to add.

The Traditional Outlook defaulted to the license key of the highest tier license/one authorized for the local app, and any subsequent accounts inharrite that "host license". The New Outlook is storing the keys separately. No inheritance. Meaning you have to downgrade to the traditional Outlook, or get the account that isn't App authorized upgraded to one that does.

MS is prob doing this to circumvent people from using the inheritance "hack" so people can't use it to decrease costs.

Thanks for the update. It'll be interesting to see what breaks next. I will never know unless I read it here... I'm now a Mailbird user, and I've uninstalled Mail and Outlook from my systems. I still don't get it... 3rd party clients like BluMail, Thunderbird, and MailBird get email right straight out of the box, but Microsoft continues to struggle.

That is not correct. At least your description as to where to verify your license is not correct,. The only subscription I have is to Office 365 which is only the office suite and not email. My 365 email account was purchased through GoDaddy and managed by them as well. Here's the rub... it USED to work, and now it doesn't. Some engineer broke something while attempting to fix something else. Each build introduces new issues, and it's MADDENING. Why couldn't they just repair windows mail? That's another piece of software that got progressively worse as they tried to fix things. It finally got to the point that you couldn't even add a Yahoo account without an error. The new outlook had promise initially, and all they really had to do was fix it so the read/unread flag got changed on the email server when it was read in outlook. IMAP is supposed to do that on the fly, right? Instead, MS broke something else which disables their own exchange mail from even being added!

Why can't MS get email right? They blew it with Bing (Google Maps), IE/Edge (Chrome), and now email, which will probably be handled by Gmail unless MS gets their act together. This is a bad joke at this point.
