Why does New Outlook repeatedly ask for an app-specific password?

As of 29/02/24 I have the same issue, to point out or ask if anyone is using the same I have outlook 2016 which worked perfectly, I also have run Norton 360 for 10 plus years with no issues, "upgrading" to the new 360 outlook has given me this issue, i have repeatedly uninstalled and reinstalled it to try and resolve the issue, i have done the same with Norton "just in case" that was causing it as suggested, i have turned off email settings in Norton with no difference.

I can only assume the outlook program is faulty, I have to delete and create a new app password every time i use it, what makes it worse is the password prompt pops up and is always on top until you cancel or ok it, whilst typing this it has "blocked" my typing at least 10 times as outlook is open awaiting mail.

Hopefully someone at outlook will help if they read these.

A Final note, why are people saying that these replies help in any way? even though they prove you are not alone with the problem, they do not help as the suggestions or confirmations do not resolve the problem, do not give the a good star rating and a yes.

I have identical issue.

I will add that I must delete the icloud account, then create a new one. Notable, is that I can reuse the same application specific password as before and the account is reactivated and restored. For about 30 minutes. Then Outlook drops the account again and the process repeats. ****?

You've tried harder than me. I refuse to delete a perfectly good and functional iCould Account! As mentioned previously, I've returned to the Windows Mail program that works fine! Is 'New Outlook' a ploy to get us on subscription to MS 365 or the previous clunky Outlook 2003 / 2010 programs with their cumbersome pst files? Not going back there! When they eventually abolish Win Mail I'll try a final time to see if they've fixed 'New Outlook' if not plenty of good alternative Email Clients to use!

I have thought of another thing, as a last resort i have changed (again to try and make the account more secure) I have changed my account to a "password-less" account, even now it still asks for a password, so this does not work either....poo!

As the solution I recommend to us eM Client and not the MS Outlook client.

For now, every morning when I logon to my PC, the Outlook will ask my APP password. I entered the APP password and it would work for a few seconds. And then the window most likely will pop up again and ask the APP password again. I would simply close the pop up window. Sometimes the Outlook would be happy for the rest of the day. Sometimes the Outlook would say "NEED PASSWORD". I just simply click on it, it then changes to "CONNECTED TO; MICROSOFT EXCHANGE". Just a nuisance but it is a work around for me.

Today is 3/22/2024, it seems the problem is gone. The Microsoft Outlook does not ask me the to enter the APP Password this morning!
